Pull start problem.. Anyone?

So I hadn't driven my car in over 2 weeks I had to order some parts and due to cold weather haven't got it outside. Well tonight I went to start it an wen I pull my pull start the string just comes out and goes back in an it only catches an cranks the engine maybe twice the entire pull of the string and couple times it wouldn't catch at all? Is there something inside there that's stripped out or what's going on? Any help would be great thanks.

Awesome thanks alot. Also when I'm drivin and I have maybe a quarter tank left it dies an don't wanna start back up till I fill it back up with gas I think it maybe air leak. But my question is, is it hard on an engine to leave little bit of gas in the tank and obviously there will be gas still in the lines an throughout the engine. If it is hard on it how can I remove it all especially with winter coming hard I don't think I'll be driving much. Thanks again

Yes,you may have an air leak, which will throw your tune off,But if the tube that goes to your muffler goes in the muffler by
through just a hole, then the tube maybe bottomed out in the muffler. My remedy to that is to pull it out,an cut an angle on
the tip of it so it dont bottom out an plug itself off.
As far as draining the tank for the winter,is a must. But if you plan on running it every now an then, you can leave the fuel in,
but not too long. Its also good to keep check on the fuel tank.Make sure that it doesnt get plugged causing the engine to run
lean an burn up.
I take my tanks off an run hot soapy water in it,dry out with paper towl.
