Any NIMH OR NICD still kickin around?

Built an old Blackfoot Xtreme with the stock ESC that only works with NiMh battery(not LiPO) Tower has none! Can I even still get any apart from Amazon or Ebay? I'd like to buy from a reputable source.

Any help, thank you....I don't want to convert to LIPO on this truck. or brushless.

Hi,
Tower has a bunch.

yeah I did another search and found them. My first search didn't find any, weird how they popped up on the second search. I went ahead and got two 2400mah and a cheap onyx charger. This is just going to be a fun truck to chase the dog and play around in the yard with so, that will be fine. I haven't driven an rc car since nicd was the standard. Been a long while. Thanks.

I ended up getting a Venom Pro3 charger since it will charge about all battery types and has some nice features to it. Comes with all leads for all batteries, 72 bucks from Tower....I feel its a great deal. I also got a 5000mah nimh battery I can use in the Blackfoot and my boat. To top it off I got a Tamiya 540 Bz super stock for some extra kick for my Blackfoot extreme. Can't wait.....been a long time since building a Tamiya.

The ESC doesn't care if the battery in NiCd, NiMh, LiPo, LiFe or anything else. What it does care about is the amount of voltage. Any ECS that is designed to run on 6 cell NiMh packs will work just fine on a 2S Lipo. The one thing you will need to be careful of is the fact that you don't over discharge the LiPo pack which is where a lot of ESC's fall down. Some ESC's do not yet have a LiPo Cutoff built into them that detects voltage and shuts the truck off before you hurt the battery. This is OK as you can but LiPo alarms for about $3 and mount them in your truck. They plug directly into the battery and monitor the pack for you. When the voltage drops to a predetermined level the alarm goes off and the unit begins to flash a rather bright light. Trust me, you won't missing the warning...

By the way.. The extra punch from moving to a LiPo pack would be almost the same as you would get going to that 540 BZ upgrade.

Below are the batteries and Alarm that I run in my old school Blackfoot.

Oh, thanks I didn't know you can use any esc with lipos. I have one of those alarms on my old King2 helicopter. I'm guessing my 3s helicopter lipo would fry the stock ESC, lol. Guess I'm keeping it old school for now.
