New to this. Wondering if rear wheels should
turn freely or not. My wheels turn but hesitate then turn. Just about 1/16 turn then stops and turns. |
Does it do this under light throttle pull ?
What if you give it full throttle ? Also what car are we talkin about here ? Can you post a pic for us to look at ? If its turning the wheels by hand, its probably the magnets in the motor your feeling. and that would be normal. |
I have a Lite Hawk Nomad. Seems to run good under but when I ran it
today at about 3/4 power I have a large wheel hop. Left is worse than the right. I just made a small shock adjustment. I will go back to the original setting. Could the tires or wheels be a problem? |
Sorry about previous post. It runs very even and steady through full power.
But at about 3/4 power up I have wheel hop. On asphalt you can here it and see the hop. |
Could be a warped wheel, mite hold the car in one hand or put it on a stand, then give it a little throttle.
check to see if any wheel has runout . Also could be a tire was not seated in the wheel groove when glued. |
Thanks. Will give that a try.

Not sure about your particular wheel, but possibly they are vented on the inside, and not on the outside of the tire...letting crud and junk enter, but not exit?
|
Checked and wheel is out of balance. Going to try to take apart and see what I find. Could be a couple of days will tell what I find out, if anything.

Check tire closer. Thanks Smiff 24, The tire is not gluded to wheel. This
is an inexpensive unit and the tire does not have a back. It just hookes into the top back. The rubber has gotten bigger. Believe that at speed the tire expands making it out of balance. Will try to glue them. What glue would be best? Also will check to see if I can get different wheels. |
Glued tires no real help. Wheels have hole for tire pressure release. Believe dirt has entered. Will try holes in tires to release any dirt. The LHS here is of no help. Only want to deal with 1/10 or larger. When I get back to home base will check for wheels there.
Thanks for all the help. |
Wheel hop is usually caused by the suspension being a bit soft or the shocks have no oil left in them. An out of balance wheel/tire can exaggerate wheel hop as well, so checking both cannot hurt; I suspect the suspension to be at fault more than an out of balance wheel. The wheel/tire would need to be really out of balance to be a problem.
