Ballooning and diff oil

What diff oil combinations are best to keep the front tires from ballooning so much,,,,I have the kraton 6+8s,,,and also an xmaxx...actually in general with most vehicles. As I have many,,,,I seem to have front tires ballooning for the most part....thanks guys....

Diff oils will make very little difference in ballooning effect, especially if you are running on 8S!

Use this chart here to help you tune your diffs for your current track conditions:

If you are doing speed runs on the street, then you should be running belted GT8 wheels which won't balloon at all and will give you the best possible performance:

E Revo on 6s W/ Duratrax Six packs ballooning

So I have a pretty stupid fast E-Revo that I like to call a land missile. But the tires really balloon out a lot I noticed the other day, so I heard something the other day about tying fishing string around them to prevent the ballooning issue and I was wondering If anybody knows anything about this and if they could put in their two since on the subject. I'm currently in the middle of doing this at the moment w/ 14lb test fishing line....

The fishing line won’t last long. Worth a try, but you will find it isn’t going to work long term.

the old truck was to use the really sticky packing tape with the strings running the length of the tape. Running two or three narrow strips around the inside of the tire (below tread) helped with ballooning, however, if not done correctly, the tires will be lumpy and not be smooth. Once the tires are glued, you’re screwed. You can boil the tires (stinks the house up!!!) to break the glue though.

I like Bill’s comment on belted tires. That’s the ticket for speed running. For bashing off-road, find a harder compound tire. They balloon less.
