Bash Video Help Please

I went camping/motorcycle riding this past weekend and took some cool bash video of my Dominator on my Sony 8mm camera.
What all do I need to get my computer set up to uplopad and edit video?
I have Zero experance in digital video.
Cheap is good, Free is better? any recomendations?
