Qustion. SOMEONE ANSWER QUICK!!!

I got a new engine for my car for x-mas, and I put it in started it and it wouldnt move, My qustion is does the engine need to be in a certain spot, cause when i give it gas the gears move but not the car. So if someone could help me out that would be great. Oh yea its gas powered...

We need a few more details...It could be the clutch, or if it has a 2 speed, the one way bearing...Did the drivetrain work O.K. before the engine change?

the pinion gears should mesh with the spur gears (or first and second speed gears) the mesh should not be too tight the gears should move easily. What car are we talking about and what engine. It also just may need alittle more rev up

Which gears are you talking about? The one(s) on the engine, or both the engine (pinion) and the big (spur) gear too? If they both are spinning, but the car doesn't move, then it's probably somewhere in the differentials, or belts? Are there two pinions on the motor, and two bigger (spur) gears?

yea they both move, so what i was thinkin maybe the engine needs to be moved around a litte and reline or somthing.

Well, if they're both turning and not binding, then it seems that the problem is somewhere else down the line...The clutch must be working...What about the drive shafts? Is it belt drive, or what? You're being kind of cryptic in your descriptions...I can't quite get what your difficulty is because if the gears are all turning, then either the belt (if it has one) is too loose or missing. Or the drive shaft(s) are not in right or screwed up...
