.15 Engine problem

I have a problem with my .15 Leo engine. When I pull of (after engine has been running for a while) there is a slight hessitation, then it picks up speed slowly and then all of a sudden it's in it's power band and then reaches top speed quickly.

I drove with someone this weekend that has a Timaya car (the 50mph+) and he's one is totally different. He's car gets to top speed alot faster. Because he has two gears he's top end is faster.

Anyone have ideas.

Do you have a single or 2 needle carb? It sounds as if your low end needle needs some adjusting, but give me more info and we'll get you running good!

Low end it too rich. That causes the engine to load up at low throttle to when you hit the gas again it seems like it is too rich.

The top end needle isn't too lean. The engine is running quite hot. This carb has a 3 adjusting screws. The main needle, the idle one and then there's another one on the side of the carb (where the throttle arm is). Is that one the low end needle ? If so, where should it be set about ?

The main needle has to be too lean if you're running hot. Although I do agree that the low end is too rich and should be leaned out, I also think you should richen your top end if you are running hot. An easy way to tune your engine is to adjust the low end till you get a quick responsive acceleration. Then adjust the main needle till your engine runs inside the temperature range specified by the manufacturer.

It depends onthe engine, but yes it's usually the low end adjustment there on the side of the carb.
