RE: Want to rant

Hey Savage_Dias, you mentioned the Evader is slow and cant turn. You have not seen mine run. It will fly (Nitro with a custom made clutch bell) and turn on a dime like a buggy, just need to experiment with different settings. When I bought mine I had the money to buy anything I wanted, but I chose the Evader because it looked cool and the stress-tech warranty was a plus. I dont regret buying mine at all, I would prefer to break something and have to fix it rather than just put it on a shelf for the night waiting for the next days run. But lately thats all I have been doing is putting it on its stand waiting until the next day, I have not broke a part in over a month. Last part that was damaged was a king pin, I cartwheeled down a straightaway and hit a wall. I had to break the knuckle arm and carrier with pliers to replace the pin. I have rolled it, flipped it, cartwheeled, nose dived, hit walls, trees, posts and other obsticles. But then again its not the same truck as it was when it came out of the box and spent less than $100 on all my hopups.

for the most part i agree with you.people shouldnt bash other poeple,R/Cs, and brands and ETC unless they have had experiance with it and point out which part of the R/C you dont like.but if i say something is trash or it sucks thats my HONEST OPINION coming from experiance. if i dont know what im talking about i just shut up.plain and simple.

O.K. That clarified it. Your problem is with entry level vehicles like those made by Duratrax and the people who buy them because they are not aspiring to become team factory drivers and are not buying top of the line vehicles.
I think you're trying to hard to find me flaming Duratrax vehicles.

They bought entry level vehicles when they wanted / expected race ready vehicles.
That was the main point of my entire post. I don't know how to make it any clearer!

ORIGINAL: EdsWords
Is it safe to say that after your friends spent a few hundred dollars they decided the RC hobby is not for them. Maybe it was for the best before they had spent thousands. Do you think they would have really stayed with it if they bought a better truck? I doubt it.
If they had saved for another month or two to get what they wanted they would've been happier & might still be in the hobby.

ORIGINAL: EdsWords
You have it wrong, Duratrax and other entry level brands are not chasing people out of the RC hobby, they are actually bringing more people to the hobby. I wouldn't be in RC at all if it wasnt for a 180 dollar RTR Evader. I would love to have a better truck. But, I am on a budget and I am trying to get the biggest bang for my buck. Do you think LOSI or Associated would have ever offered 200 dollar RTR versions of their vehicles if it wasn't for Duratrax or Traxxas?
I won't even try to comment on that because I still haven't been able to convey the point of my 1st post.

ORIGINAL: EdsWords
You say Duratrax isn't for you. Well, it sounds like you have been in the hobby a while and have had more than a few vehicles and you own some really good ones right now and do some very competitve racing.
EXACTLY. Duratrax's rides aren't for me. YES I have been into "real" R/Cs for around 13 years now. YES I have more than a few vehicles. NO I don't race. I have entered one race & left after my 1st heat. We had 2 rain delays & I had over an hour trip back home & a 6 am showup time the next day at work.

ORIGINAL: EdsWords
Havent you figured out that Duratrax is not marketing their vehicles to you?
When did I say they did?

ORIGINAL: EdsWords
What's your point? This thread is a thumbs up or thumbs down comment about Duratrax. Either you are here to tell us Duratrax makes a decent product - OR - you are here to tell us we are wasting our money on Duratrax.

Which is it?
Reread my posts without trying to look for me flaming Duratrax & see if you can figure that out for yourself. I have a slot car race I need to go to.

I fail to see where this is going?

Here is how I see the sport of R/C.

I have a Nitro Stampede and have had it for years. A track opens that I can race at, mind you a stock 'Pede is not the most race worthy vehicle. I put a good paint job on it, show up and I get possitive response from others. Things like, "I have always loved the Stampede" or "You really seem to get that thing around the track quickly" or "Killer paint job - It really looks tough'

Still being budget minded, but wanting Electric 4wd I buy a Tamiya Wild Dagger - put some low buck 15 turn motors in it, another killer paint job and back to the track. Again comments are positive. "I love Tamiya's stuff." or "The parts were always so precise and fun to build." or "That is a great little truck"

At this track I get to see Savages, T-Maxx, GS Storms, Hot Bodies, Losi and AE stuff. None of these people ever turned to me and said - "You can't keep up because you car is junk."

This is what the sport should be - Run what you are capable to run and can afford. I love the Stadium Blitzer. You should have been telling this person how to make that truck run better, not that it will never contend. You would be very surprise how capable my Wild Dagger is. I have surprised some people with the truck and they love to see me run it. Don't tell people what is wrong with the vehicle when they just want to know how to make it better.

Maybe - someday we can all just get along and enjoy RC

On a side note, my brother bought an Electric Evader and that thing will turn on a dime. I have no idea why you said they will not turn. Also I was very impresswed with the quality of the vehicle for what he paid. The Evader is bringing alot of new people into RC and should be thanked for them pushing the affordable envelope.

I know I thank them.

Jeez some dude above kept saying that Duratrax makes entry level RC's... According to him maybe....
Hey you little KIDS these are toys for big boys who know how to discern stupid from right to do. They are not full size cars and they are designed to be played with using your brain not your ass. The word durable in your RC vocabulary is not for "quality" it is for "unbreakable when you jump 10 feet in the air" Thats not what these RCs are made for! If thats what you think.... then you need to grow up a little!

Just because advertisers and buttbrains trash their vehicles to show off doesn't mean these little vehicles are made to do that. I've owened many Traxxas T-maxx trucks and loved each one of them and treated them as what they are (fragile toys not full size monster trucks).

Use your brain too kids not just your muscles and then decide if its you or the manufacturer making the trash.

Who exactly where u talking too? if you were talking to me ( which i doubt) I would say that i treat my duratrax as carefully as possible. I would say that whoever says that the cars are entry level is meaning, that they are made simple and easy to repair and upgrade, or designed for the person who is learning how they function and are repaired. and durability is part of quality weather you like it or not.

i have a Maximum MT pro that runs just fine and i have the "top of the line" cars to like an ttr eb4 limited edition and others out there but i buy what looks good to me i don't care what ppl say about the cars or truck my lhs is the same way with duratrax they make fun of them and they say they don't sell them they wouldn't even help my friend with his Maximum st saying there duratrash and they sell duratrax stuff on there website so we just walked out and never when back there anymore so like i said i dont care what anyone saids about my cars i dont care if your faster or not if they want speed ill just take out my ob-4 racing car.

i've got as of now.

tamiay monster beetle
2 kyosho inferno dx II's
duratrax Maximum MT pro
ofna ob-4 pro
thunder tiger eb-4 limited edition
and on pre-order a cenracing genesis .46
and radioshack xmods

so as you can see i don't take sides just because someone said one was bettor than the other i buy what looks good to me and what i think the best car/truck/buggy is for me and just because its a good car/truck/buggy for me doesn't me it is for some one els

that's how i got my friend in to the hobby he saw my maximum st that i sold to him it was my first r/c and now he has a maximum st and mt and an ob-4 and we race for fun even though i can out run his car i don't say hey there is no point in racing because i have a faster car with a bigger engine we just race to have fun.

I have a nitro evader too and i was just wondering what to buy aluminum for it so that it will not break anymore, i just purchased a .18cvrx and since then i just cant stop bragging how my friends rc10gt and my evader are just 2 really tough trucks, people say duratrax really sucks put u know what they are just saying that because there truck really sucks, my uncle has a rustler 2.5 and my evader seems to be alot tougher than his, so people say duratrax sucks well they better think again because a traxxas broke in pieces:eek:. If u have any info or questions about the nitro evader just email back

Well, this thread is like a year old, but since it was resurected what the heck.....

On the low end side of things I have 2 evaders (nitro evader BX, and electric evader ST), and a T-maxx.

My Electric ST has about $500 worth of upgrades, and I'm forever breaking it. My "high end" RC's (*hint*associateds*hint*) RARELY ever break, and are almost completely stock.

For example, my ramp gets me about 15 feet of air at WOT, after a few mishaps my evader was dead for the day with its normal string of broken parts- The rear shock tower, a rear A-arm mount, and a shock pivot (this was all from the same bad landing).

Once it was dead I took my "high end" eqivalent out to play, did the same stuff all day and the body was the only part that broke.

Next example, my "high end" electric touring car (*hint*FT TC3*hint*), crashed straight into the curb going at least 40mph, the impact actually bent the timing ring in the motor, and bent the center driveshaft, no broken parts. The same thing happened again the next day, this time it stripped the servo, but yet still no broken parts.

On the other hand, I crashed my evader ST into a concrete column going around 38mph, broke the chasis, front shock tower, shock pivot, bumper, bent the hinge pin brace, broke off some screws, and probobly did some other stuff that I cant remember.

You may be wondering why I crash my cars so much, well part of the problem is at my house I get very bad glitching, plus I rarely ever wear my contacts/glasses (unless im driving a "real" vehicle).

The moral of this story is: If your a crap driver who can't drive to save your life or you get loads of glitching then get Associated! lol! :). If you crash so much and you want a durable car, go for a 1:8 nitro buggy, they're built like a brick.

I don't have anything against different rc brands at all. Actually i like there being a big variety, gives you the chance once in a while to be somewhat different anyway. That said, you pretty much do get what you pay for most of the time. The problem with forums like this is you get a bunch of little kids on here who want to talk up their cars and talk down others,

You wouldnt beleive the glitching at my house! I think its the lightpole down the road that causes it because thats where all the gitching happens, right in front of it.

The strange thing, though, is I can drive my NTC3RTR (which as of now has the stock 27mhz AM radio) down by it and it does fine, if I use any of my cars equiped with 75mhz radios (both AM and FM, nitro or electric) they go nuts down by that light pole.

I prefer traxxas...evader st electric was my first truck and it broke all the time......that however may have been partially due to my lack of skill...a year or two later i bought a thunder quake....it was a junker....took me forever to get my parents to let me get another nitro truck....jato, its awesome i beat it but it takes it most of the time...lol....i guess if u take it easy and drive like you are supposed to the duratrax are not too bad, loved the free parts....they are supposidly race trucks so they should be able to take a jump.....the main problem w/ duratrax is they discontinue vehicles to fast
