Engine temperature
 

Hello, I have an old panda rc car with a magnum gp10 engine now is a thunder tiger gp 10 engine. this post is because I have serious problems with the temperature of the engine. First I open several parts of the car to let the air come inside. Now I have increased the nitro percentage, because I have heard that this makes get lower the temperature.

In the manual said that i have to use a 10% mixture, but i have increase to a 15% and it works better, but still very high

Is there anithing else I can do to make it low?

You can try richening it up on your high speed needle a little bit.

You need to first set the needle settings back to stock positions on the carb. Then first set the low end mixture. This is done by pinching the line that comes to the carburator from the tank, with the motor fired and ideling. When it is pinched the motor should run 3-5 seconds before the idle revs up. If it revs up faster than 3 second the low end it to lean, and longer than 5 seconds the mixture is too rich. After you have the low end setting/mixture right, tune the top end mixture to tempurature. Somewhere between 220 degrees and 255 degrees will run good, and won't kill the motor. dont increase nitro percentage, i read somewhere that all that does is promote poor engine performance. Try blending your own fuel, and use castor oil, castor oil helps keep your engine running cool, but at the expense of lubrication, because synthetic oil is used for lube in nitro fuel, which gives your engine a longer life

Keep in mind, andrelgaulden, he only went from 10-15% nitro. I run 20% all the time and my motor last like 6 or 7 gallons of fuel before a new psiton and sleeve. Castro-oil though, never thought of that. Do you just blend it into you gallon of store bought, or mix your fuel from all seperate ingrediants?

i've got a question, too. I have a HPI RS4 3 RTR. I wanted to know if i have to cut out the windows to help keep the engine running cooler longer, or is the small hole near the engine header enough ventilation for it??

Thank you very much, I´ll try with the mixture controls. Perhaps i can try to look for a bigger cylinder head, if i can find one that fits in my engine.

I first take notice of the temperature when i put the cover of the car, without it the, temperature increase later. With the windows open the car run better, but i im going to try to fit a buggy cover, The mine is from an old toyota celica and is completly full of holes. Perhaps with the buggy one the engine runs a little better, because the engine is out of the car.
