XTM MAMMOTH PROBLEMS?

I HAVE ONE OF THESE TRUCKS and it runs great. a friend of mine just got one but is having a problem with it. it runs fine but will not move. he says that black dust is covering the engine and air filter and is basically all over the chasis. i havent been able to inspect it personally but am thinking that the clutch may have been burnt up. being the truck has only been run an hour i find that the clutch failing to be unlikely but maybe it was just a bad one to begin with. does anyone else have any other suggestions on what it may be? or does it definately sound like a bad clutch? just want to be sure we are on the right track before i go getting him new parts. thanks for any ideas..[8D]

RE: XTM MAMMOTH PROBLEMS?

A guy recently (about a month ago) bought a mommoth from one of the local shops. I saw him yesterday with his old t maxx and asked what happened to his new truck. He said that after about 10 trips out to the bash pit it was too trashed to bother trying to revive. The guy is a hardcore basher, but his maxx, savage, and other stuff lasts about like it does for eveyone else. I wonder if the mammoth may be just another of (the many) POS MT's that have been rushed of late to market to take advantage of the craze.

well i have one myself and am very pleased with it.. very fast and takes a good beating.. just wondered if that sounded like a clutch problem or not with the dust and all. i think hes taking it over later tonight so i will get a chance to take it apart then and see what exactly the problem is.

I have one and it is a great truck. Sounds like he needs new clutch shoes. I had the same problem. Mine wore out quickly, but others have not so it might have been a bad batch. I replaced them and it runs like a champ now. The part number for them is 149552

As for this, a Mammoth is made for racing, not hard core bashing. It will take abuse from races and light bashing, but it is not made to excel in a "bash pit". That is what Savages and the like are for.

No need to get all wound up guys, I'm just adding my experience to the discussion. As far as racing a mammoth, from what I've seen of them on the track and they are little more than a rolling turd. I've been involved in unlimited truck racing over the last 3 years and until the mammoth came along the savage was the worst handling truck I'd ever seen on a race track.

Not getting wound up....just trying to give help which YOU are not doing. And now you bash it again. Oh well. Glad you got your problem fixed!!

Let's keep it on topic, which is worn clutch shoes, not durability and intended use.

Relax folks. I don't see anything I wrote as a bash, simply an obsevation of the truck in question. Had I known it was going to upset those that owned the thing I would have never said a thing. Have a nice day and I hope you get the clutch problem solved.

WERE YOU ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN THROUGH 2 CLUTCHES AND ONLY ABOUT 10 TANKS OF GAS. XTM SAYS I'M CRAZY.
THANKS JEFF
