battery problems

my battery, (5 cell 6 volt reciever pack), when i charged it last night, did not take a charge, all it did was make my charger get hot, do ya think its just old, shortcircited, or something else?, thanks in advance.

just to let you know, this battery is about 4 years old, nicad battery pack, and i know i have the right charger for it

one or more of the cells is bad what happens is the charger will start to charge then the bad cell tells it it is completly charged. hence heat is a buy product. throw out the pack!! the rest of the cells are probably going bad too.

I agree. Getting a battery pack to last 4 years is long enough and a minimal enough of an investment every 4 years.
