Tire balancing
 

I just got my new top flite prop balancer and am using it to balance car tires. The thing is the rules dont explan very well how o do it so I need your help. I have no clue of where to add weight or take off weight on the tire. How much weight should I add/take off? Where?

Well, do a search on tire balancing, but from what I hear it's a pain in the butt.. and not really worth it for just bashing.

spin the tire and let it stop on it's own. On the inside of the wheel mark the point that is directly below the balancer shaft. Spin the wheel again and see where it stops. If it stops at the same spot add weight 180 degrees from your mark. How much is something you will have to figure out as every tire/wheel combination will be different. For weights, i've seen tape a weight used, odd nuts superglued to the wheel, hot glue with fishing weights, etc. I've found that most wheels can be balanced with a blob of hotmelt glue spread over the heavy spots. Keep in mind the clearence issues you are going to have when you mount the wheel. Back to balancing. Keep doing the spinning, marking, and spinning untill your tire will stop in a different place three times in a row and call it good. One VERY important note about this, you cannot balance tires that have wet foam in them. With all that said, I used to balance my tires for offroad, and if I'm racing on a dry track I still will, but if the track is tacky to wet the wheels/tires will pick up enough dirt to nullify a balance job so it's really a waste of time under those conditions.

you can also buy lead tape, much easier than hot glue, also much cleaner

Lead roof flashing can be had at the hardware store for cheap and is thin and can be cut with normal scissors.Also two sided carpet tape can be had at the same place .It's thin as well and if needed you can double it up for a slightly irregular surface.Cheap and easy to handle system for balancing any cast rubber tire/wheel and since it's thinner than tape a weights you can use a larger patch of it of the same weight and it will stay in place longer

tape a weight is a self stick weight, which takes up to much room in the tire ( 1/4 inch) lead tape is abotut he thickness of duct tape and is more efficient, so no, its not an echo
