My car keeps stalling
Everytime i start up my car it runs for about 2 seconds and then it stalls. I have to start it about 5 times and rev it a bit while i lift if up off the ground to be able to get it to work.
Is this normal? If i just rev it when i start it when its on the ground the engine stalls. Also when it is left on its own running (both when i first start it and when it has been running a while) it stalls.[:@] Could this be because it needs tuning or have i got the wrong glow plugs |
RE: My car keeps stalling
It needs tuning. Same thing happened to me and since I am not very good at tuning, I just took it into my LHS and they got it running again.

RE: My car keeps stalling
I think that you have more than tuning issues altho that could be part of your problem , try taking a look at the clutch system , bearings ,shoes make sure that they arent hanging up in the clutch bell and that the bearings arent coming apart, RED

RE: My car keeps stalling
It could be a leak. Check your carb. What engine are you running? Also, what are your needle settings? Your high speed needle should be about 3 turns out to get it started up, and the engine should be tuned richer when you apply throttle. Your mid-range needle should be flush. It depends on what engine you have though. I had the same problem with one of my engines a long time ago, but I just had a leaking carb. I fixed it in a second and ran the car the whole day without anymore trouble.

RE: My car keeps stalling
This is to all you that have this same problem (runs a bit, then stalls), your low speed needle is either too lean or too rich. if it is too rich your car will bog out a little when you floor it then pick up rpm very qiuckly, if it is too lean you car will want to bog out when the carb is totaly open (this is tested with the car off the ground, DON'T RUN IT FOR VERY LONG OR YOU WILL KILL THE COMPRESSION IN THE ENGINE). The low speed needle is on the end of the carb, not the one sticking out. Also your glow plug could be fouled, this can be caused by running totaly lean or totaly rich, adjust the high speed needle (the one sticking out). !!!clockwise leans, counter clockwise richens!!! Just ask me for more advanced tuning methods (temp, oil residue, smell, smoke, etc.)

RE: My car keeps stalling
Sounds like your engine is either incorrectly tuned (probobly too rich) or your glow plug isnt working good.
When I first got my evader it did pretty mcuh the same thing, myproblme was with the glow plug and tuning. First take out the glow plug, plug it into your igniter and see if its glowing bright red (also make sure all the coils are lit up) if its jsut barely glowing then it needs replaced, if some of the coils arent glowing you should ago ahead and replace it. Now while you've got the plug out, clean off the gasket and the plugs threads good, then use a q-tip (either dry or with some denatured alchohol) and clean out the glow plug threading on the engines cooling head. When you reinstall the plug make sure you get it pretty tight. If that doesnt fix your problem (or at least help) then your engine probobly just needs tuned. If all else fails consult the manual ;) |
RE: My car keeps stalling
ok thanks
its running fine now (or it was until i crashed it) |
RE: My car keeps stalling
LOL that seems to be the general thing going on at my house as well. Every time I get my cars fixed they only last 2 days before some BS part breaks.
What was wrong with it? |
