help with remote!!
 

I'm sorry if you think this is stupid, but i have 0 RC experience. I have a generic off the shelf RC electric (uses rechargible batteries) car that I bought a long time ago, and I lost the remote. It is a 49Mhz car and I have looked everywhere, and all i can find are really expensive remotes that have all sorts of stuff i don't need and can't afford. I love this RC car and really don't want to throw it away. if somebody knows a link or something to a generic and cheap 49mhz remote that would work with my RC car that would be great.

the 49mhz band is split up into several sub frequencies in RC (49.1, .2 .3 etc... ) so you will have to establish which one you RC actualy needs, simply saying 49mhz isnt enough.

then you hit the problem that your Generic RC may not use the same standard that "Hobby Grade" rc uses with regards to which channel does what. ie. even if you find the right frequency for your reciever, you might find that the throttle turns the wheels and the steering makes it go forewards.

My advise would be to pop it open and see if you can find a precise frequency for it. or failing that go and bother the guys at you local hobby shop on a quiet weekday afternoon and see if they will be willing to let you experiment with a Transmitter(Tx) and a pile of crystals to see if one will work for you.

you can get entry level Tx units for about $15, but I dont hold a lot of hope for you to ever find a combo that works.

PS, my forum peers will all now implore you to go and buy a Hobby Grade RC, so I will leave that for them....
PPS, I also have a nigeling doubt that we use 49mhz at all - I think it might be 40.......oh well.

another thing to try would be to attempt to contact the Manufacturor of your RC - see if they can sell you a replacement controller...

unfortunately you will not be able to find a hobby grade type controller that would work wiht your car because all of these controlers are 75 or 27Mhz. what type of car is it?
