Do i have to use Nitro?

I dug my traxis out of the attic, Do I have to go by nitro or can i use a premix in it like my weedeater? Probably a stupid question feel free to flame away if need be

Thanks

well if you are a chemist you could do it yourself but i would recommend geting nirto fuel for it.

NO LOL, you cant use the oil and gas thing because the nitro allows the engine to fire, you have to use nitro, but if you want use the gas and oil premix and tell me what the results are, ty.

i dont think it will work i wouldnt even try it.

diesel works i think if you have enough compression;)

Your glow engine runs on menthanol and nitromethane. You could mix it yourself, but you'd still have to buy those two ingredients plus a lubricant.

I doubt either gasoline or diesel will make your engine fire, and may even damage it.

Save yourself the trouble and grab whatever is cheap at the lhs.

"Nitro" fuel is a mixture of methanol, nitromethane and castor or synthetic oils. They will not run on gasoline or diesel fuel. Methanol is required for the engines to run, because it causes a catalytic reaction with platinum in the glow plug to ignite the fuel.

You can mix your own fuel, if you're willing purchase the ingredients and do the math on how much of each to mix up. IMO it's really on worth it if you go through a lot of fuel.

i was wondering if i could use white spirit and castor oil. will it work?

try it on an old engine

Look on the bottle/can and see what its chemical composition is, or look up the MSDS if the bottle doesn't tell.

These engine will run on diesel. Wont be very efficient, but they will. These nitro engines and diesel engines run on the same type of combustion. They use compression and heat already in the cylinder to run.

That is about 50% correct. model glow engines use a catalyst fired by methanol. (your glow plug, with a platnium element like a car's catalytic converter) Pressure plays a small part, but not much. (glow engines will run fine with the plug unscrewed some, where there is VERY little pressure) If you look at the specifics, they are quite a bit different from a diesel.

there are also diesel model engines, but they do not use pump diesel. (hint, model diesel is just as expensive as glow fuel)

Automotive diesel engines have much higher compression ratios than glow engines. You won't get enough compression in the engine for the diesel to ignite.

when i was doing an after run job with wd40 i was thinking if it would run on it so i sprayed quite a but in the car and tried starting it and it ran for about 15 seconds but it was late at night so i had to stop.

You can run diesel in nitro engines, but you have to use a special head.

That reminded me of when I sprayed some WD-40 in the carb in my revo and used the EZ start to spin the engine. The glow plug and wire was still attached and the engine fired right up, but the exhaust smelled horrible and it ended up dying out after a while.

The fuel you run with a diesel conversion head is not actually diesel fuel. It's primarily kerosene and ether. Also, you will need to change the o-rings in the carburetor and fuel tank and the fuel tubing too (standard ones will swell up when used with hobby diesel fuel).

Nitro

If you run standard gas in an engine it will melt. The guys at Trilordy told me that.
