Steering problems
I have an HPI RS4 3 EVO and I just cant get the damn steering to go straight. once i get the steering trim as close to straight as i can get it(still not that straight) the next time i trun it off and back on i have to re-trim it. It is really annoying because at my local track the straght is on the opposite side and even in the tower it is hard to tell how clodse to the wall you are and i keep drifting over to a wall due to the steering!!!!!

Two things can be wrong?
1 stronger faster servo. 2 need a stronger or new servo saver. |

heres what you do take the horn and servo saver off of your servo. turn your transmitter (radio) and receiver on that wil center the serov. then put your servo horn and servo saver back on straight. The problem was that the servo wasn't centered properly.

Did you check the toe in, camber, and caster on the front tires, if one is different than the other - it will cause the car to pull.

It might just be that your steering servo has poor centering (either worn pot and/or budget servo). If you have a programmable digital servo (like Hitec) you could try setting the deadband tighter (if you have the programmer).
Also, as was mentioned, the servo saver could be the problem. Check the spring preload. Maybe it's too loose. Assuming there is nothing wrong with your servo, you may just need to adjust the toe. Toe in (front wheels) will give you better straight line tracking. Toe out (again, front wheels) will give you snappier entry into turns but at the expense of straight line tracking. If you're having trouble with getting down the back stretch straight, I would try setting toe to zero degrees- or even toe in 1/2 degree. |

If you are using a 4 AA cells for the Rx, switch to a 5 cell rechargeable pack. This will supply more current to the servos during operation, and will cause them to be more responsive and hold their position better when stationary.

when you do what Delta_Dude12 says, make sure that your steering trim is neutral (in the middle)and that when you put the horn and servo saver back on adjust the turnbuckle so that the wheels are relatively straight.
