Nitro to flush the engine clean?
 

G'day,
I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me a little bit on how to flush your engine clean with your nitro fuel. Someone was telling to hold the air intake shut, so it would take just fuel, no air. Then it would come right out the exhaust. This method seems a little bit of the wall, but I would imagine it could get any dirt or dust out from within the engine. Would like to hear some input or suggestions. Thanks.

That's correct. However if dirt and sand is inside the engine you'll need to strip it down and give it a proper clean. You want to make sure all sand is removed, and you don't want to turn it over with sand inside.

what i do is i take my glow plug out, and, with my squeezy bottle for refiling my car i give it a squirt and then turn it over a few times by hand, repeat this a few timesand its ok

Alright thanks alot guys. Another quickie, by holding the exhaust shut. You therefore create more compression, correct? When would you need more compression?

If you think there is anything in the engine, it is best to take it apart and then flush everything with fuel. It will be much more likely to get rid of anything than just attempting to flush the engine without disassembling it.

What is worse, having to take a few minutes to take the engine apart and clean it, or having to replace the piston/sleeve/crankshaft because dirt got into the engine. I think everyone knoes the answer to that. Better safe than sory.

That won't do anything. Don't turn the engine over, the bits of sand will damage it. Take carb & head off clean if there's sand and stuff under the piston liner need to totally strip it down.

If you plug the exhaust whilst the engine is running the backpressure into the carb from the tank will increase. This will force more fuel into the engine, causing it to stall. This is one of the most common (and best IMO) methods of stopping the engine in a car.
You can also prime an engine for starting by using the same method. You plug the stinger of the exhaust with a finger and pull the pullstart (or turn the rorostart) a few times, forcing fuel into the engine.
It has nothing to do with engine compression (except that more fuel wil be forced into the engine, reducing the compressible space) whatsoever. All it affects is backpressure, which in turn affects how the engine runs.
