Help getting a newbie started
Hello all, I am brand new to the RC Hobby and I am wanting to get a car for me and my son. I don't have a clue on what to get and was looking for some advice on a car, charger accessories, ect. I am thinking probably a buggy since we will be doing some racing on a local clay track.
some things I know I want is electric upgradeable speed $500 or less to start 1/10th scale or bigger Thanks for any advice in advance. |
RE: Help getting a newbie started
I have a rc10b3 and It kicks ass, the rc10b4 sounds like the one you want.
It is very upgradeable and durable. I would go for a rc10b4 factory team kit http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/383388.asp this speed controller as It looks very good http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHSV6&P=7 How old is your son as If he is very young he wont need a big ass motor, probaly want a reedy quad mag http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFBH5&P=7 a battery from boom boom batteries, has to be 6 cell http://www.boomboombatteries.com/index.aspx and a good charger a radio controller I dont no much about radios and chargers so Ill leave that to someone else If you got this you would have a very good car, but you dont need to get all these very powerful things for it, to cut costs you could allways get a not so powerfull speed controller if you dont need it. This setup will probably get you just below or just over 30mph, depends on yor gearing. You might say that 30mph is slow, but on a rc car it is very fast. Have you been using rc cars before or is this a first time. Ben |
RE: Help getting a newbie started
Im not into electrics, but i have a yokomo yz-48D. It has enough features for me and if your not going to be too serious about racing. Fast charge or slow, and also discharge. And you can set how quickly you want it to charge. it does 4-8 cells, and around 6000mah max. I have a large battery i bought from a local electronic store, 12v used for starting 1:1 cars. You will have to get some leads though to connect to the batteries. Not hard, just get the right connectors and solder them on. Hope that helped.

Nice man now you can have wars with eachother. Great fun. thats what I do with my rcd10b3 and my friends rc10b4. I win because mines heavier and super amazing lol.
p.s in a battle rustle would most likely win, not like you will though Ben |
