GLO-STARTER

Hello, I'm new too the forums but have had two nitro cars, a rustler for about two years and a jato for about two Weeks and I really like the jato. My question is, is it a good idea to warm the motor by using a glo-starter on the glo-plug for a bit before starting the car or is there a better way to do this and is there a need to. I have not seen this topic on the forums that I have look at.

RE: GLO-STARTER

The glow starter will not warm the engine prior to starting , its only used to start the engine and thats it. I think you mean pre-warming a brand new engine prior to starting it in the cold weather? for that you would use a hairdryer or heat gun.

RE: GLO-STARTER

Leaving the glow-starter on the plug for about 10 seconds before you try to start the engine will make it much easier to start than if you tried to start the engine immediately after placing the starter on the plug. Although the engine will not become noticeably warmer, the temperature in the combustion chamber will increase. A warmer combustion chamber = easier starting. It may just give the chamber the few extra degrees to allow it to start.

If trying to start an engine in cold weather, the previously mentioned methods of engine warming work perfectly.
