Tires

I have a set of 29mm wheels that need some tires. What are the grippiest tires I can get for my 1/10 scale electric on-road car? Links to online sites are welcomed!!!

it actually depends on what type of surface your running on. i know that the asphault track near me they like to run foam slicks. as far as any other surface, i'm not sure. another thing to take into consideration though, if you want grip, your going to lose durability of the tire. the harder the compound, the longer it will last, and the softer, the more grip. the best advice i could give you is to shop around. its just like buying tires for a full size car. you might also find a tread pattern that you like over the grip that it would provide. you can start buy checking out www.towerhobbies.com

I run foams on my pan car - they grip really well if you use traction compound on them (make sure it's for foam tires) but they get torn up pretty fast. On my 4wd touring I use rubber slicks - the lower the number the softer (and therefore grippier) the tires are. You need to think about tha track temperature, though. The really soft ones (I have some 27's) lose their grip and start acting greasy when the track temp exceeds 110 degrees (F) - it doesn't take much sunshine on a dark colored track to go above that. I have some '37' compounds for the hot track conditions.

If you are running rubber tires you can use WD40 as a traction compound (just spray it lightly on the tire surface - let it soak in for a few minutes - then wipe it off and go racing). It really helps.
