How would that fix the spring in his pull start ?

open it up. if the string is not going back in the spring is broken. if it broken where it attaches to the cover its easy to fix. you just need to bend a bit of the spring and put it back where it broke off.

you probley pulled the string to far and wore out the spring. you can probley find a new one. When you are pulling the string, it should only be pulled 12-14in away from the pull-start.

i can imagine how surprising as soon as u open the starter and sunddenly springing out, without any idea at all what's inside.

btw, if u want to, when putting it back try to put a paper gasket between the engine and the pull starter to prevent oil accumulation and prevent slippage. i did custom gasket, u can get from car store.. shown below is a used oil soaked gasket from .15 engine.

good idea with the gasket. I just had to replace my pull start mech on my rush at $18 because I pulled it to far on accident. I will try the gasket when I install it
