upgrading an oldie, help suggestions
i just got a nitro quake on a trade that is in like new condition. anybody thats had one knows how horrible the tires are on these things. i'm wanting to upgrade and am looking for my cheapest options. i've found the duratrax kits for $30 to go to 14mm hubs. also have found an ofna kit to go to 17mm hubs. stock is 19mm btw. i have a set of hotbodies wheels and tires i was wanting to use that are 17mm, but looking at the kits, i don't think it will fit. on the wheel, it looks like it will be too small for the ofna kit to go through. these wheels are made for going on tmaxx style trucks with the 17mm hex included.
also, im thinking about just converting the truck into the axis. my thoughts are that it will be a little more durable with the smaller tires putting less strain onto the truck. does anybody think this would be a good idea and if so, should i use the ofna kit for buggy wheels or should i just buy duratrax axis wheels and tires? anything else i should know about this truck or suggested upgrades? i'm thinking about hotglueing the center diff today because as is, all my power is going to the front and i think thats what is killing my handling. |
RE: upgrading an oldie, help suggestions
I found a thread on RC Car Actions forum, bunch of pages of members trucks and mods. Hope it helps!
