problem with electric motor
 

hello everyone, i have a small problem that i can quite fix.. not sure whats up... anyways, i have a duratrax evader st with the stock photon speed 20t motor and stock esc (love the car but getting a jato soon) , wanna try nito ! :)hehe, anyways, but my evader is for small time bashing (when im REALLY bored and dont have ALOT of time ya know) anyways, i took it out to run it the other day, and about half way throu the first batt, the motor started to seem like it would cut out during reverse (would require a small push for reverse to kick in) , so i swapped the batts thinking the first was totally drained (which i was wrong) and noticed that the motor was now requireing a small push to get moving, so i took the motor off and cleaned it VERY well using motor cleaner and such, put it all back togeather and still have the same prob, but now even once u get it moving, the car has NO power, it goes like 1 - 2 mph (barley crawling) and if u try and climb a hill or turn it completly stalls.... ive done all i can do (tore it completly down and such cleaned everything) nothing helps.... any ideas on what i may need todo?, i thought maybe the com needed to be cut... but it looks clean.. what do you guys think??

you might have worn out the brushes on your motor......might need to buy
some new ones.

the brush's look alright, maybe a little shorter then normal... it still has the stock brushs on it, and its had prolly 20 - 30 runs.... do u really think the brushs could be causing this type of problem??

Yes, if the brushes have worn down and are just barely touching the commutator there will be little or no power flow, therefor resulting in little or no speed.

well
i went out today, and bought a BRAND new STOCK motor (27 turn Epic)

it ran PERFECT all day long... went through 2 batteries... got home, and low and behold, this motor is doing the SAME EXACT thing as my 20T photon speed is doing... so i am wondering if maybe the ESC went bad?

its a stock, sprint 20t - 27T ESC.... is that possable?

YEA totaly possible same thing happened with my maxx but it was all just the reciver. Is your wire cut on your antenna?

1)Esc bad

2)Bad Reciver

3) radio (is it stock radio?)

okay i got the problem with the new stock motor figured out...

appearently i forgot about the lil thing they call "break in" and just ran the shi tout of the motor
well i tore it down (just finshed) took the armature and all that out of the can and come to find out one of the brushs was stuck to the com, but it was easy enough to get unstuck.... so i cleaned everything and made it all pretty again, put it back togeather, and it works.... perfect.. almost... i have noticed it takes the ESC a few seconds to become ready (for green light t ocome on) but im guessing thats just the esc aquireing the signal from the transmitter...

and, yes its still the stock reciever, and stock transmitter...
how can i tell when the transmitter batts are low any advice?

also, can someone explain what the diff between a "hand wound" and "machine wound" is ? (with motors and turns)
and also, what does "single wind" and "double wind" mean?
