glowplug igniter help!

well, I charged up my igniter and unscrewed the cap (so the battery is exposed) and I realized that the negative side of the single cell battery pointed towards the gauge and the positive to the tip thing where it was connected to the charger. My question is: Does it matter which side is positive and negative? Please help me out because I don't want a 12 hr charge to go to waste =/ I tried switching the battery around and the glowplug would still glow regardless of the position of the positive and negative sides sooooo.. iono.

Please help! Thanks.

RE: glowplug igniter help!

Yes, the glow plug does not need a certain polarity to function but for charging it does. From all that I have seen the positive button end of the battery points toward the glow plug.

On the cap there should be some sort of spring to provide some pressure. When ever you see a coil spring, the negative side of the battery presses against it. This applies to most applications including: tv/vcr remotes, rx battery box, tx battery tray ect.

^^ I concur with ryan. It's just like the cigarrette lighter in your car, THe center is the positive and the outside is negative.

that's a relief. Thanks. I don't know why the coil thing didn't click... maybe because I just woke up. ::shrugs::

Thanks a lot guys
