Monster Project
i posted this somewere else but no one likes to anwser lol
i started on this about 6-7 months ago, basically my metal shop teacher is leting my build a hybrid vehical. the specs- it will have 2-engines, LST steering and suspension, savage 3-speed tranny with reverse, hydralic brake system! now for some pics!! http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/MVC-006F.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/MVC-005F.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/MVC-004F.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/MVC-003F.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/MVC-002F.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...4/MVC-001F.jpg |

RE: Monster Project
Looks good [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif] - although i think you'll run into problems trying to run two engines and hydraulic brakes. One more thing, i hope you're going to put in some chassis braces, otherwise the chassis may buckle if you land a jump. [:o]
P.s That wasn't in any way meant as criticism, just some things to think about ;) |
RE: Monster Project
I was going to also say try n get some chassis braces, and maybe make your own shock towers too. Instead of a twin engine, you could run the truckzilla engine, it's like 4-5hp, something like that. Tons of torque, but doesn't rev all that high, but with a decent sized clutch bell and the 3spd tranny you'd still see 35-40mph probably. Looks very nice so far!!
Keep us updated |
RE: Monster Project
From the other thread
"well after a long conversation i convinced my metal shop teacher to build a RC monster truck! i have been in the hobby for 2 years now and hope this project will prove to be a challenge. the whole truck will be CNC machined using a bridgeport 3 axis mill and a hypertherm CNC plasma Cutter!!! out of 7075-T6 aluminum the stuff i will put in it are still sketchy i have yet to design it because i need to get the part that it will be using. this is what i have planned so far or what i plan on using: 2x .26 Mach engines 8x losi LST shocks 1x savage 3-speed transmission it will be a double Decker chassie with independent suspension (2 lst shocks on each arm) i still have a few things i need help on: well on the diffs. i need a good strong diff for the front and rear any help will be very appreciated thanks , the wolf " |
RE: Monster Project
you should get 2 collari .32! That'd be awesome! Just imagine decent revs and 7.6 HP! (drools) :D lol
|
RE: Monster Project
well everything is made i just have to finish it all, right now i am fitting everything to makesure all the holes are right as well as make a few more, the hydralic brakes operate the same as the ones in a car, but i dont know if they will be fully functional, so i will still be able to use the savage brakes as well,
more pics! http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...twolf654/9.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...wolf654/10.jpg |
RE: Monster Project
That looks sweet!!
|
RE: Monster Project
yah man! awesome truck you have! Should be awesome for jumping with the LST shocks and its long wheelbase
|
RE: Monster Project
If its gonna be hybrid what is it gonna run on im kinda clueless here at the moment.....lol
|
RE: Monster Project
its running on 30% nitro, dont know what brand yet but i will pick one lol, i am going to take this beast to my LHS to see what they think lol
|
RE: Monster Project
so ur gunna have independant disc brakes on each wheel?
i don;t think thats really worth the trouble for a car of this size and weight... the normal brake son the drive shaft that mosts 1/10th 1/18ths have pulls them up just fine. i don;t even have ndependant brakes on my 1/5th and weighs over 12kg's and it pulls up fine |
RE: Monster Project
no its two calapers one from the front and one for the back. both blocks are postioned right off the transsmission.
|
RE: Monster Project
well i have a size comparison! this truck sitting next to a LST and i finnaly have a name for this beast of a truck, it shall be known as the... OMFGLST lol (brought to u by my cousin lol)

RE: Monster Project
I like that. its catchey. omfg lst. ROFL!!
|
RE: Monster Project
if u want it to be a true hybrid have one nitro engine and one electric it sounds hard and probablyis but it sure would be alsome lol
|
RE: Monster Project
Get rid of those ugly wheels you have on it, other than that, its nice.
|
RE: Monster Project
lol it came with the truck :P

The Latest:
http://installpartycentral.com/Pics/IMG_1235small.jpg http://installpartycentral.com/Pics/IMG_1236small.jpg and a short clip: http://installpartycentral.com/Pics/CST.wmv In the clip, the brakes were not hooked up (i dont have a servo strong enough to push in the plunger on the master cylinder) and the front driveshaft were not all there. |
RE: Monster Project
Turned out nice [8D]
|
RE: Monster Project
WOW:D
(but you should have made it brushless:D;)) |
RE: Monster Project
Thats a very sweet looking rig you've got there, being able to build it at school is also awesome, are you using it as a project for coursework or just for a laugh? I'd love to have the time to learn to build my own truck from scratch.
May i suggest twin truckzilla engines ? Or i believe thunder toger once produced a .70 engine, twin those would be somewhat overkill but would command respect;) Looking forward to the Video you'll no doubt post when it's finished. Good luck and once again, wicked rig:D |
