Certified nitro speed record.
 

Does any one know what the official certified documented top speed record of an RC nitro car or truck vehicle is? I am only looking for documented runs please. All so does any one have a link to it?

I've done this research before and I've spent the last 15 minutes trying unsuccessfullyly to refind the links.
But, I'm pretty sure that the record for an electric vehicle is 111.14mph. That's in Guiness and was set in Oct of 2004 if memory serves..
The record for a nitro vehicle is 109 point something but I could not find a link.
The record for a nitro boat is 125. something mph and I've seen reports of 140mph speeds for electric boats but, back when I first researched this I only found confirmed speeds in the low 120's.
The speed for a plane looks like 343.92km/h (213.7mph) set in 1971. I'd have thought it would be faster but that's all I could find.

Yes I have tried some searches with out finding anything. I new the electric was 111 something but I did not know that nitro was so close as I could not find anything on it. If you find any links please let me know. Being we both are on the Savage form so much you can PM me if this thread gets buried.

Dave, that seems a little off, it doesnt take much to make a plane do 200 with todays turbine engines.[&:]

I think a lot of these records have been broken just that no one has taken time to make them official or certified. I know with cars you cannot use a radar gun you have to have a speed trap. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, I agree. I've done a quick search on the plane fourm here and saw claims of 400mph for the ducted fan planes. I could not find any type of proof though and we all know how easy it is to say "yeah my truck goes 75mph" so the plane guys probably do some of the same. I do believe that many planes today exceed 200mph but 400???? idk......... But, like I said, 213 was the only confirmed record I found. If I run across more I'll post them up.

For the record, I've found many links to useful sites by using the search feature on this board. There's a TON of intresting stuff buried in these fourms.

Also, RCZ is sponsering a race in to try to break some records. It's set for July 30, 2006 out in California.
Maybe we'll see some new stuff soon.

I remember seeing a littlw while back that a 1/10th car did do 109 something but I do not remember where I saw it at. But I do remember that it was an associated car and it had a custom .21 in it. But thats all i remember about it. IF i remember where I saw it I will get back.

i have seen a video of plane confirmed over 200 with a radar gun, im not sure about 400, that seems a little farfetched, however some of those things have 15 lbs of thrust, so who knows.

200mph plane is real common, any turbine driven plane will easily break 200mph as will most nitro ducted fan ones...extreme prop planes fly around 100-140mph..it would be possible to reach 400mph on a turbine..btw a jetcat 200 puts out 45lbs of thrust and weighs 5lbs, imagine that tossed on a 12-15lb plane :D

I just saw this video and it say's they hit 147mph. I cant judge speed very well but it sure looks hell fast. http://www.hpi-europe.com/show_video...=en&videoID=43 this is a valadrome with 2 tennis corts in the in field so I think its about 1/4 mile each lap

It says that it hit 147kmph - that's killometers per hour.
To convert to mph multiply the kph by .62.
147 x .62 = 91.14 mph.
Still it's pretty darn fast!

Man i wonder what its like to drive a RC car art those speeds, you could the driver in the video was swrving all over the place, and im sure hes had alot of practice with it.

How cool would it be to race like that. There wouldn't be any minour crashes they would all be car destroyers hitting the wall at that speed
