Newbie Needs Advice

I know i already have a post, but the pics were wayyy too big(my bad). Here's my dilema. I was given 2 gas cars. One of them looks pretty beat down, well they both do but one worse than the other lol . I don't know much about these cars. The last R/C car i had was a R/C 10 and that was about 15 years ago. The car that i want to fix needs a clutch or so i was told. I will post pics. First off can someone tell me if it's worth fixing and 2nd, what exactly i need.

I uploaded 3 pics, The first pic is of the P.O.S car. My cousin told me the motor on it is good? 2nd is of the car i want to fix and another pic of the motor and what's missing.

Looks like you need clutch shoes , clutch springs , and a clutch bell to start .

Are they specific to the type of engine you have or are they universal? I just turned the car over and i think this is a Burns 4WD and the motor is a OS MAX EX 21. Can anyone tell me anything about this setup? Good or bad, pro's and con's. Things i should change.

The POS car has a Super Tigre 46 motor on it. Is that any good?

well , first you have an old pos that not too many people problly have seen . Second, you can`t expect an instant response on something that looks to be very cheap and looks like was sraped together . Clutch shoes are pretty universal , the size of clutchbell however is different . Try searching around info on this thing and see what the gearing should be . Myself , I`d remove the engine and wheels and scrap both of them . You need to wait more than one day for someone that knows what the heck that thing is to help .

Well some people take it hard when you come right out and tell them their car is junk . You didn`t ask if anyone thought it was a POS .

Tell you what if that engine has any compression left I`ll buy it from you .

I wouldn't get offended, i didn't buy them. They were given to me for free. Even if it cost me a few bucks to get the one going, i would still be ahead in the game,

Well , it looks like you need a two shoe clutch set up . HPI makes some good shoes and springs for that application . Hard to say what clutchbell .

Pretty much all i need to know is... Would it be worth it to dump a few bucks into, or would i end up paying more than buying a new piece?

Dawman 07-21-2006 11:58 AM

RE: Newbie Needs Advice

As long there is nothing else wrong with it would be worth the $25 .
