On the HPI website, I was looking at the instructions for the RS4 Type SS, because I want to get one soon. It said in one part the the drive shaft needed grease. What kind? And could someone give me a wesite on Tower Hobbies that has it? OR, does this grease come with the model?

Also, could someone tell me where on the Tower Hobbies website I can get some threadlock, these intructions say u need it and we don't have any.

The grease comes with the kit.. so don't worry about it...

Well, Now that I have said that... The kit could come with more grease... I use this Think blue goop I buy at my LHS for 3$ - 4$ a jar... I personally think the thicker the better becuase it tends to stick to the parts better and not spin off...

The ends of the drive shafts need grease, and so do the differentials. Don't skimp on the driveshafts, if you get metal on metal it can wear a groove in the dogbones causing weird vibrations, and also get the diffs real good too...

Also, you might want to pick up some more LocTight for the bolts, the kit again skimps on that too...

You can pick up blue loc-tite at your local hardware store (hand tool removable).

As far as grease goes, I never grease driveshafts, cvds, universals, and drive cups. Grit and debris get trapped in grease and act like sandpaper. Dry graphite lubricant is better suited as it does not attract or retain debris.

For lubing gears, I never use thick or sticky grease for gears(except inside gear differentials where it is used to tune diff action). It robs power. You want the gears to spin as freely as possible. I use lithium grease on my ring and pinion gears. It has good bonding properties with the metal gears and provides minimal rotational resistance. It also cleans up nice.

I use white lightning grease. You can check with motorcycle shops for this. Prior to that, I used lithium grease like i8tweety.

Some guys use vaseline but this breaks down fairly fast. But the guys that use it rebuilds before every race, so this is not a problem with them. For me, if I don't have the time to rebuild before a race, I can let it go for the next race and the white lightning or lithium held up.
