Trimming MT Tire Foams
Hello, I just purchased some new shoes for my revo racer.
I went with Standard Yellow MAXX Velocity 23mm Rims, And Crime Fighter MT Tires. I have mounted/glued several sets of tires before; (mostly 40 series on Wabash Rims.) This is my first time with MT size wheels. Now my question is: When i opened up my Crime Fighters, i realized the Foams are enormous! The foam is about 3/4 inch wider than my Velocity rim.......Where does all that foam go??? Do i trim the foam before mounting the tire???? Or Do i just stuff all the foam inside the tire??? Please post comments/concerns. Thanks for any help, Jon |
RE: Trimming MT Tire Foams
I always trim the cornered edges off the foams. As for the overall width of the foam, I leave that alone and compress it in the tire.
The reasons I trim the corners off is so they do not fold over when stuffing in the tire and so the foam doesn't interfere with gluing the tires. |
RE: Trimming MT Tire Foams
Hi,
The foams are over sized, otherwise, they are not hard enough to maintain tire shape for a 10lbs chassis. To make them better fit, you can trim the edges inside and outside with a pair of scissors. You can get more information at Pro-line. Regards Joaquim |
