Trimming MT Tire Foams

Hello, I just purchased some new shoes for my revo racer.
I went with Standard Yellow MAXX Velocity 23mm Rims, And Crime Fighter MT Tires.

I have mounted/glued several sets of tires before; (mostly 40 series on Wabash Rims.) This is my first time with MT size wheels.

Now my question is: When i opened up my Crime Fighters, i realized the Foams are enormous!
The foam is about 3/4 inch wider than my Velocity rim.......Where does all that foam go???
Do i trim the foam before mounting the tire????
Or Do i just stuff all the foam inside the tire???
Please post comments/concerns.

Thanks for any help,
Jon

RE: Trimming MT Tire Foams

I always trim the cornered edges off the foams. As for the overall width of the foam, I leave that alone and compress it in the tire.

The reasons I trim the corners off is so they do not fold over when stuffing in the tire and so the foam doesn't interfere with gluing the tires.

Hi,

The foams are over sized, otherwise, they are not hard enough to maintain tire shape for a 10lbs chassis. To make them better fit, you can trim the edges inside and outside with a pair of scissors. You can get more information at Pro-line.
