If you are looking for Italian made 1/5 scale and 1/8 scale.. look for www.technokit.com They are the only manufacturer that has hydralic 1/8 scale brakes!

Bergonozni is not very good at all. poor quality, cheap parts and no support.

Raman - was looking at the technokit 1/8 a month or so ago. Do you know where to get parts and kits in California.

Are there info and/or links you can offer about this car. Looking mainly for racer's comments, setup sheets, etc.

The track I go to in Sun Valley has a shop onsite and they carry all sort of 1/5 scale parts for FG, Ladenbacker, Harm and Technokit. http://www.kzspeedway.com/racepage.htm They maybe able to refer to you their distributor here in Ca.

Have you ever seen any of the cars in person? I saw the 1/5 scale TKT 99E fully hopped up, what a beautiful car. I know FG is more respected but the machined parts on this car are amazing, smooth round edges on all the arms, like a piece of art. There is a car there for sale right now, fully loaded with radio, race ready for $1500!

Also there is a hobby shop on the east coast called Brooklynn hobbies that is a rep for Technokit 718.951.2500

im on the east coast, so there arent any kind of tracks where we
could race. if there were a track here I would have an FG or a
Technokit. i only run my car in a parking lot. so far tech support
has been fine.

www.fg-america.com NOTHING comes even close to beating the Evolution !!! I aded a 2 speed gear to mine, and it hits at least 70-80mph !

Well there is no question about it, FG is the premiere 1/5 scale car and dominate the races. For everyon Technokit 1st place there are 7 FG 1st places.

But I will say one thing, as far as build quality, Technokit in my opinion, is superior. The quality and finish of the upper and lower a-arms and even the main chassis on technokit is top notch.

From what I understand FG and Harm were the same company. Harm is a bit more expensive then FG. FG is the best value in 1/5 scale. There is also Laderbacher, which are heavier and a bit pricier too.

Fg is the original and the best. If you are paying more money for the HARM (which is a CHEAP knock-off of the FG, by the way) then you havent done your homework. FG also was the first with hydralic brakes. They are the 1/5th pioneers, everyone else up to now, has been chassing them, and continue to do so. I have never heard of HARM being the same as FG, the quality of the two isnt even in the same ballfield. The harm chassis looks half the quality of the competition 8MM FG, the Harm is only 4MM, and doesnt have any of the machine work of the fg. I guess it would work, but just doesnt look like the price would even be close between the two, considering all the differences. I thought the Bergonzoni looked like it had some pretty nice machine work though....

Here is a close up of the FG 8MM chassis, the pictures dont do it justice. The only machine work I have heard even having sharp edges was the Bergonzoni. I cant say for the lower line FG, but my control arms on my Competition FG are aluminum, and couldnt be machined any better than they already are. They can only be so smooth and perfect ya' know?

As I said FG is the best value and they do dominate the races. However, when I compared the FG competition side by side with a Technokit TKT 99E, the build and finish of the Technokit was better, but that is just my opinion.

Compare the two side by side and see what you think. :)

As for Harm, they are not the "same" as FG. Some people who worked at FG broke away and formed Harm.

I have compared them. What did I buy? Technokit? NO. I guess if the most expensive, and the best, relates to "best value" so be it. FG is the best value then.

What many people getting into RC overlook as far as "best value" is what the kit comes with. So they go buy the entry level and hop it up down the road... and pretty soon they have surpassed the top model! Following that line of reasoning is why I say FG is the best value.

I agree with you, Harm is crap, infact they have a ready to run version now which is $1500 and comes with only rear brakes!

As far as your competition FG, what did you pay for it and how much have you put into it since?

I paid $1,400.00 with battery pack, switch, Front and Rear disk brakes, carbon fiber servo tray, carbon fiber battery holder, and carbon fiber gear cover. It was brand new and the only items that were needed to make it run was (1) 1/4 servo, and two normal size servos, and radio. I have less than 2,000.00 in it, and thats buying a JR-R1 PCM radio, Hitek HS5735MG steering servo, and two HS5945MG servos. The major advantage to 1/5th though, is after the initial purchase you charge the batterys, and gas is cheap. Plus it runs for 45 minutes on 1 tank. It seems after the initial investment, there really isnt anything to buy unless you wreak it!

I've been in RC for a while and the way I usually buy is by finding someone who is unloading a car. Another words, find a car where someone else did all the hop ups. As you know what you put into these cars you will not get out.

It is my understanding that the comp was around $1800 so $1400 is a great deal. So I take it you bought the hydralic brakes afterwards?

http://www.netshop.nl/shop/rc/index.html Krikke sells the Comp. FG all day long for $1,271.00. If you buy from FG America, yes you will pay $2,000.00 Plus! The hydralic brakes are a waste of money unless you race 1 hour main events at the national level. Also the hydralic brakes dont come on the Comp. FG chassis, they only come on the Comp. EVO ($1,848.00) respectively. I have the cable operated brakes, and with a good digital servo (180/OZ/IN) and they leave NOTHING to be desired. I can lock all 4 wheels at 50 if I want, or gradually apply them for excellent modulation. The only benifit to the Hydralic system is: no cable adjusting, and less brake fade over a extremely long race like a 1 hour race. Many people think adjusting cables is a pain, but can you imagine filling, bleeding, and maintaining a true hydralic system like in your car? None for me thanks, my cable brakes work great. I have a JR-R1 and mixxed channels 2 & 3 together to be able to trim the front brakes seperately of the rear, because you always want more brakeing power in the front than the back. 70% front/30% rear is ideal, same as a real car would be. I agree used helps to get the price down, but nothing beats new, I just hate getting someone elses used garbage. For as much as these cost, unless you could know for a fact the owner took great care of it, I would avoid used 1/5th scale. Its just too easy to bend one of these cars up, being 25LBS and capable of 50MPH easy. They dont excactly hold up like the smalled lighter cars, when you wreak one of these, it generally is going to cost more than a few bucks. I wish it could take the punishment of my TMAXX!

Hey Raman, you said the track you go to in California carrys Laudenbacher, can you check for me as to the price of a set of 4 wheels with the aluminum inserts? I just purchased some on Ebay and wanted to know how much they retail for. Thanks a bunch Raman! Todd
