R/C workbench/station...updated 01/29/07

I’m planning on building a Workbench to work on my current R/C car and for any new cars I might acquire. While I have a general idea of what I want to do, I thought it would be a good idea to get some input from all you more experienced folks. With that said, looking back at your first or current R/C car kit build, what would have been some nice things to have available to you? Any feedback would be great. Thanks

spend the money on a GOOD set of hex drivers. Aside from batteries and fuel, your tools are the most important part of the hobby!

a computer with internet access. Not necessary but its what I want for my work bench. I agree with tools. also, if this is your first build ever, perhaps the phone number of someone with more experience. if your doing any soldering don't cheap out on the iron either. it doesn't have to be the hundred dollar one with adjustable voltage and a dating service, but not the 7 dollar one either. about 20 bucjs ought to do you some good.

try to have drawers or storage containers that are tough enough to endure rc abuse, but are light enough and removable to take somewhere like the local track or a bash location.

i got a dremel on saturday, and its is THE BEST TOOL EVER MADE. multi purpose, small and light. i have the extension cord with the pen end on it, this is essential for comfort and reaching places with the dremel.

Good idea I just built my workbench out in the shed. Think I might run out and get some magnetic strip and put them on it; I'm constatly loosing small screws among other things [:o]

I would have to agree, I like this idea. Firefighter7, any chance you could post some pics of your workbench, it would be great to see what you came up with.

Thanks TxRR[sm=75_75.gif]

I agree!! Even with big roll away full of tools there is always something that I need. I do have a beer fridge though, it is the stickered box under the truck bench. I would also include a stereo and a TV if you have room. I just moved a few months ago and set up my garage. My new setup is MUCH nicer than my old one. Here is a recent pic. Good luck and have fun!!
