thread lock
2 quick questions on thread lock...
Can it be used to not only do what its supposed to do but also redo threads on stripped screws? And are there any safe household item substitutes for thread lock that people use? (ex:elmers or gorilla glue) thanks |
RE: thread lock
It will not restore threads, but will still lock some stripped out threads. I've used ca glue, white out, paint.
Mostly use red thread lock and white-out. |
RE: thread lock
Why would you want to use a substitute, when TL is as cheap if not cheaper than anything else.

RE: thread lock
Ok, thanks guver, I'll use some CA glue. Firefighter7, I don't want to buy thread lock if I don't have some and my CA glue will work just fine.
In that case, 1 more question. what should I do to fix stripped screws? And of course, I had to ask, are there any house substitutes for it? thanks again |
RE: thread lock
stripped screws get the threadlock or ca glue, but if wanting to remove them then I try to find a slightly larger diameter screw.
