Telemetry question

Is the telemetry really worth it? If not what should i get? (into racing and have a CRT)

RE: Telemetry question

Telemetry is a technology that allows the remote measurement and reporting of information of interest to the system designer or operator.
Hes asking if its worth storing data from runs ie speed, gear changes etc
Imo probally yes m8 at least then you can tell where you car is performing and not :D

RE: Telemetry question

I think that it depends on you.
How serious are you about racing. Serious enough to spend the money on the telemetry and then actually use it to keep track of how you run under different conditions? Or would it just be a novelty? Do you like to have stuff just becauseit's cool o have?
Or would the money be better spent on different suspension parts or track time to practice driving?
Personally, I think that it's mostly esoteric BS that will probably only benifit a very serious racer.
Will it help you win races? I doubt it. Driving skills are far more important than a bit of technology.
Would it be cool to see laps times, etc? Probably, nifty toys are usually pretty cool.

The choice is yours.

Right now i am thinking not....

RE: Telemetry question

What DaveG55 said is so true. The telemetry gear on your RC will be a hinderance as far as weight is concerned when you are actually racing (I am speaking about 10th scale on-road cars, I dont know if that gear will affect larger scale cars and trucks as badly).

IMO, telemetry is okay to have when you are practicing so you can perfect your driving style to get better lap times based on what the telemetry tells you. But during actual racing, you are probably better off taking the the telemetry gear off your car.

Now, the Nomandio Sensor has telemetry built in to a receiver (actually, a tranciever) and that integerated unit would be better if you wish to keep the telemetry gear on during a race. However, the Sensor could put you back as much as $500 (I do not know what they cost now, they might be cheaper).

I think you may have your Adam Savage quote wrong.
Shouldn't it be "I reject your (not "to") reality..."?
