hi im fairly new to nitro rc and i just wondered if there are any things that would help me on my way

Make sure you listen to what people say if some one says its not good its n ot good i learned this the hard way.

It is not cheap.

It can get fusterating.

Break in your engine in properly.

Be carfull with lipos.

Dont drink nitro fuel.

What car/truck are you lookin to get?

Read stickies, read some articles on how to tune (dont ask people how to tune), and dont get a no name rc.

I just purchased my first car as well. I bought a Kyosho Landmax for $35. It needed a little work like the throttle linkage and new brakes and I had to tune the engine. I spent hours online and reading whatever I could find. I found a Hobby Shop in my town and started to hang out, asked questions and the owner was more than happy to help me into this sport. I'm finding that RC owners like to talk... sometimes they have good information, sometimes they don't. I have sent many letters to the customer service department at Kyosho asking every kind of stupid question and they have always been very good about responding.

In short ask questions!!

I just purchased my second car yesterday - Kysoho MP7.5 and I'm looking forward to both on and off road racing. I live in Michigan and we still have snow to our butts so It will be a bit before I see any dirt. But the parking lots are dry.

Break the engine in. break it in right and be patient. that is the biggest mistake I see people make.

One other thing -- there is a big difference between those people who race and those who "hobby". Sometimes tips can result in a shorter lifespan of your car or components. Be sure when you get responses that you are both taking about the same thing -- apples to apples, if you know what I mean.

Here's another tip... I have been dinking around with my cars for a couple days now trying to get them to start (that should have been the tip-off for me - two cars and neither will start). I checked everything EXCEPT the glow plug igniter. As it always is -- the last thing I looked at was the issue. It's is one of those you plug in and charge up. Well, it doesn't charge up. You can place a plug in it and it only glows about 5 seconds then its dead. So with all that said here's the tiip:

Never, ever assume!!

Yea...the worst thing about this hobby being a newb( that and having no money to pay for the hobby...)..well you gotta start somewhere!:D

I would always read your r/c cars manual before you even think about starting it up.
