Servo selection, steering vs throttle/brake? HELP

Ok, I've read a lot of posts of people upgrading servos from stock to diffrent servos for steering and braking. Wouldn't they both need to be quick and with high torque, or is the torque more important for braking and speed more for steering? What would be a good pair for a noob to get for under $50 for both? metal gears?

First, you're not going to find two metal gear servos for $50 for both that are worth buying.
What I did was buy a good high torque servo (645 mg - about $40) for the steering and then used the stock steering servo for the throttle/brake.
Torque is not quite as important for the throttle as it is for the steering. Speed is nice in both areas. Unfortunatly, good servos that do both can be very expensive. If you want really good servos that have lots of torque and good speed you can expect to pay at least between $70 - $120 for each servo.
The Hi-tec 645mg I mentioned above is a big improvement from most stock steering servos but is not really all that fast and far from the best servo out there. But again, those get pretty pricey.

yeh im having a real problem with my 1/10 scale buggys steering servo its realy weak, it wont turn to the full extent unless the car is running or moving do you know what i mean?
and my local LSD only sells metal geared servos for 50 AU would that be more power full than a stock?

Yes, that problem is very common for the stock servos on most RTR rc's. As to weather the servos your lhs sells are better than stock - probably, but without knowing the specs of the stock one and the new one, no one can say for sure.
