I AM TRYING GET A FEEL FOR THE INTEREST IN A CAR LIKE THIS

Thats a pretty sick looking car! I'm sure there is alot of interest in something like that but the problem is making it cheap enough for the average person buying a 1/4 car to afford. Very few people are going to spend $3500 on something like that. Of course if you could make it for $1500-2000 you might have somthing there.

THE PLAN RIGHT NOW IS TO BE ABLE TO SELL A BASE MODEL
CAR IN THE $1800-$2000 RANGE. THERE WILL BE FEATURES
THE BASE MODEL WONT HAVE, MOSTLY MATERIAL UP GRADES.
BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE AS ADD ONS, SO YOU COULD BUILD
IT TO A HIGHER LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE AS YOUR BUDGET ALLOWS. MORE TO COME!!! MIKE

how do you plan to market this beast? Do you want a certain company to sponsor it or sell it yourself out of your garage?

whats est. weight and speed fully loaded?

FLYPATTERN 03-11-2003 02:46 AM

WEIGHT AND SPEED

THE WEIGHT IS 18 LBS. WITHOUT THE RADIO GEAR OR BODY.
I AM WORKING THE MOLDS FOR THE BODY IT SHOULD WEIGH LESS THAN A POUND. AS FAR AS SPEED IT IS GEARED FOR
50 MPH. AS SOON AS THE SNOW HERE IS GONE I WILL
BE ABLE TO DO SOME TESTING, I AM GOING TO RUN IT ON A RADAR GUN TO SEE HOW MUCH GEAR IT WILL PULL AND STILL
HAVE GOOD LOW END POWER. I WILL BE POSTING THE RESAULTS
OF ALL THE TESTING GOOD OR BAD. I AM GOING TO TRY TO
BREAK THE DRIVE COMPONANTS.... JUST TO SEE IF IT CAN TAKE THE TRUTH!!!

That looks really neat, I've always thought about building my own R/C, but I never came around to it because I dont have the needed tools to build one. That sure does look like some good craftsmenship though, and a lot of time.

What are you hiding under the rag in the front steering linkage.....

new era was the last manufacture of large 1/4 scale cars. with welded frames simular to yours. The market has diminished geratly do to the high price tag on their cars. they're no longer avaible. Starting cost for a basic kit was $1200 for a belt drive kit to $7000 for the top of thr line monster truck. They did have a dune buggy for $1200.I build and design my own 1/4 cars and trucks with welded frames.People really like my work but do'nt like the price tag.Mcd is the newest line of 1/5 cars and trucks with one platform for their line. you can get a buggy for $900 all the way to top line hummer for $2200 All cars are 4x4. I believe the motor your using is 22cc mac. That motor will not power that car to 50mph with good torque. I tried a 32 cc mac and it had no power with the right gearing to even get it close to 50 mph. It had no power. The truck only weight 30 lbs. If you want ths buggy to really move get a Zenoha G230.

The MCD cars are using the Zenoah RC230 engines..

Whats up flypattern i hope you arent already giving up, I havent heard much for a few months. I think you should consider putting out chassis only, with adapters for all the common servos, and maybe even using another companys drivelines/diffs/and steering assembly! Fabricating the tubing and chassis only wont cost a ton of money in parts so you can get paid in the labor end of it right away. Also by using another companys parts for everthing besides the chassis, you allready have a parts inventory! Allthough this might require buying a FG mardor and building a frame that will work with their drive unit, steering linkage, and drivelines, it might get you into the market for low cost, and quickly!

All you need to do is buy the FG, make your own chassis that is so far above and beyond the FG people will want your frame as a upgrade. After all, its all about demand. Besides with your abilitys, I think within 6 months you could almost be ready to show the finished product off. It would only require building a tubular chromoly chassis to die for, and fitting it with all the trickest parts. Certainly within your abilitys! One suggestion....make it so cool looking people dont want to put a body on it, like the way the old Kyoshos Landjumps were....Actually I think the Kyosho style frame might be a good starting point to make something REALLY COOL! HINT HINT> :)

nice nice.. pretty much exactly what i was looking for... tho what does it mean by "body" (then price)
then "front body" then "rear body" ect? thanks
actually one more thing.. hehe not to be picky but is there any shops like this closer to home.. say in north america?

Most all the bodys are two piece. the main part and the front bumper. Only the truck bodys are 4 piece. FG America carrys the same bodys but their prices are quite high. I oredered a FG Competition from Krikkle and saved 400$ even after shipping. Remember these bodys cost 200$ each!

Ho ho ho!!

Nice work.. looks like its taken you some time!!
I'm not sure if Todd is still around. He kinda got pissed at the "newbs" in the forum.

Thats a nice lookin car man!!
What are you using to steer that beast? 150oz+??

I'd like to see some numbers on the amount of torque that 2 stroke puts out.
Maybe 2 1.5ci engines running DIESEL would work out better for a buggy than that (heavy) gasoline 2 stroker?

But.. I have no idea how much power these engines put out so I have no way to compare.
Just a thought! I'm a diesel fanatic..since recently. But I have no experience with R/C diesels.
