Adding An Extra Fuel Tank ?
 

Hey, again guys.

Well I just got back from bashing around, when me and my dad had an idea of adding an extra fuel tank to the other side of the buggy (1/8th scale).
There is quite a bit of room on the other side for an 80cc to possible another 125cc tank, which would give me hopefully about 20 to 25 minutes of run time.

I have some questions though:

1.) Is there such a thing as "connectors" to connect two fuel and pressure lines back to one? Like It tried to "draw" below :)

2.) Would their still be enough pressure to properly pressurize two tanks ?

3.) Would it harm the engine running it for twice as long without stopping it ?

And, has anyone else tried this?

not sure the layout of your buggy but maybe you could fit a oversized boat or plane tank on it?

Here is a picture of where I would add the tank, the area is actually taller then it looks. It is as tall as the servo is.

1. What you're looking for is a T connector. There are numerous companies that sell that, but I'm not certain of the fuel line size so you'll have to look that up.

2. I think it would run fine, but since I haven't done it I can't say for sure.

3. Nope. It wouldn't be any different than filling the tank up over and over again. As long as it's tuned correctly you shouldn't have a problem.\

Personally I'd go with one larger tank. It shouldn't be all that hard to install and would be much less complicated.

this is mgt with two tanks

it looks like hes add the exhaust to 1 tank and then the fuel line to the other thank by the presure line so really only 1 tank is pressurised hope this helps

yea if you run the tanks in series that would be the best way i think but if you wanted to join the fuel lines and split the back pressure that would be fine, because each of the tanks would need to supply half the fuel of one so the only need half the back pressure

how bout just make a chain...have the pressure line go to the new tank, then the new tank have a line to the original tank, and then the original tank go to the engine...if i made it sound confusing then just look at the pic cuz i couldnt find a good way to describe it

Actually I like that idea better, defiantly looks a lot easier. I will look into it [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

definitely go sequential - that way you'll drain both tanks completely. If tee'd together, one will drain first and then just push air through - the other tank will then stop feeding fuel.

As noted above, plumbing the tanks in a series configuration is the way to go. Usually this configuration is referred to as a "header" tank. Heli flyers use it to ensure smooth fuel flow during wild maneuvers. If you have any more questions about setting it up, the heli forums might be the place to ask.
