Starting problems
 

My problem is with the glow plug or charger...
the car wont start
The glow plug will not heat when itt is inside the cylinder but once it is removed and makes contact with the charger it will glow red
i then reinsert the glow plug and tried again but nothing happens at all
I have tried a few times and it continues to only glow when removed from the cylinder
if anyone can help with this problem it would be appreciated

hold on, lets see if I understand what the problem is.. when the plug is screwed in, you are under the impression that it does not glow at all, but once you pull it out then it glows just fine?
How do you know the plug glows when screwed into the head?
If i understand it right, there cant be a problem with the glow igniter or charger, its most likely another factor thats causing problems starting the engine.

Assuming you went with normal break-in procedures and haven't had any engine impacts try:
Warming up the engine >100F (sometimes helps to start them sooner)
Brand new plug
Brand new glow igniter batteries
Not a flooded engine but a properly primed engine

When the glow plug is in the cylinder and the charger is attached....it creates no heat at all but when removed i can see it is glowing when in contact with the charger
definately primed properly and not flooded:p
the car has tried to turnover a few times but just dies within a second or two....rare to get this to happen though
any thoughts??

How do you know if it's not creating any heat when the glow plug is installed?

If the glow plug is ok then the reason your engine isn't starting properly is likely due to a tuning issue or an incorrect idle adjustment.

I still don't get it, if the glow plug is installed, how can you see it is not glowing, and how can you feel it is not hot? Unless you removed the button and head from the rest of the engine and looked inside, if that is the case, it isnot making contact.
This sounds like a tunning issue, if it is popping over a little.
Good luck, I will bow out now, I can't handle explaining how to tune, via a keyboard again.

if your glow plug is working with the glow warmer outside the motor than your plug is working when it is screwed in the head button.

What are your carb setting?

how many turns out is on the HSN?

same for LSN, and is the carb slightly open when you try to start it or is closed all the way?

If the car has run before without issue its possible you need a new glow plug even though you can see it glow and heat when the igniter is applied in your hands. The platinum coated plug wire wears during use because of the catilitic action caused by the methanol in your fuel. Once the plug is wore out you may be able to start the engine or hear it kick over with the igniter connected but it will usually die quickly.

And as said before, you wont be able to feel the heat of the plug once its installed in your engine.

open the throtle more when yewr trying to start it, with the wheels OFF the ground. then when it fires it will rev up. also heat the engine up before starting and prime it properly.

If you are testing the glow plug outside of the engine confirming that it works, well then thats it, it works. The only reason it wouldnt work when its screwed down is because your arnt attaching the glow warmer properly.

By the sounds of it its either your tuning, your fuel, or, the glow plug, not that it dosnt work, it may just be the wrong heat for the fuel\engine. Or it may need replacing have you tried that ? Have you ever run your engine properly before or is this break in ?

What fuel are you using ?
