Don't let this happen to you.

While jumping my 1/8 Storm today the impact of the landing jarred one of my AA cells loose from the receiver pack!!! (haven't bought rechargable pack yet).

Thankfully I was coming out of the throttle in mid air.

To make a long story short my Storm ran 15 mph across the park & onto a major street! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Smack into a curb.

No damage. Thankfully it didn't get run over & the curb hit was relatively low speed.

The moral of the story. ZIP TIE YOUR BATTERIES IN PLACE!!! Even if you have a receiver/batt box like the Storm does.

yeah happens alot.....most people would suggest a failsafe for $30-$40 to prevent a run away and i will too.

Yep, definitely buy a failsafe. In this case it wouldn't have helped you because you lost onboard power, so I would add a throttle-return spring to your rig also.

But you're right, a nimh reciever pack securely zip-tied down should be your first upgrade. It will also provide a good solid 6V of power. I would suggest the cheap batteries website that advertises here, support our sponsors and buy from them!

why doesn't anyone make a failsafe with watch batteries in them to provide just enough power to move the servo? I think that would be better then relying on the receiver pack.

Good idea jswinkos. Any electrical engineers out there want to give it a try? I would imagine that such a product would sell like crazy. I'd buy one....
