Diff lube
I'm pretty new to this and this may be a dumb question so bare with me. I took my tranny apart the other day to try and troubleshoot a whining noise. It wasn't in the tranny so I started to put it back together. I didn't have any diff lube so I just used a general purpose lube called "One Shot". I haven't ran it yet and was wondering if this would be a problem and should I get some special lube and take it back apart and change. Also, if anybody knows what the whine could be that would be great. It sounded like it was coming from the tranny but all gears were in good shape and bearings looked good. There was some junk wrapped around the axles when I took the wheels off but that didn't seem like the area the noise was coming from. Any help is appreciated......Chris

Diff lube
The whinning you are hearing is from your slipper pad. This happened to me to on my rc10gt and it took me a while to figure it out. You will probably need to replace your slipper clutch pad. ;)

Diff lube
If your diff didn't slip when you tested it before you put it back into your truck you should be fine...if you tested it first. The wrong kind of lube will make the diff slip endlessly and melt the diff gear.
