Tips on making a track...
hey, my friends and i all live nearby a huge empty lot and we wanna make a track there. the terrain is 7/8 sand, the rest being small stones, and some grassy areas. the problem were having is that the sand doesnt compact/harden enough. i've heard that spraying sugar water on it hardens it to a degree. plz any tips?;)

Rent some decent construction equipment, a small skid and a hydraulic compacter would make your job a LOT easier. It'll cost some money but you'll get professional results in little time.

well before you do you might want to make sure it is in fact, a huge empty lot and that it is not up for sale or owned by anyone
and for making it just come up with a simple but fun design and do what sheograth said |
RE: Tips on making a track...
Yeah, I forgot to mention that. Don't even think about doing something to the land until you have permission from the owner or municipality.

no worries, the land has bin there for 10 years and nothing at all has happened. i dont think were even goin to make it a reely good track, just something that a couple guys and i are just gunna take the cars down to and play around with. do you think the compactor would work well tho? i meen the sand is reely loose and dry...

RE: Tips on making a track...
I too need tips for a track. But my track is gonna be smaller. 35 X 12. I know it isnt the biggest track but it will work. I have a 1/10 scale 2wd truck and I dont want to be bored of it in 5 minutes. Any suggestions for track layout?

RE: Tips on making a track...
Honestly, an oval, IMO. A 35x12 isnt gonna give much room for a tenth scale, especially if there are more than 1 car racing. An oval will atleast make for some fast driving and possible head to head racing. :)

RE: Tips on making a track...
Well I think I will get bored of a oval real quick. I dont think anyone else will be using the track except me. I was thinking a couple turns, a couple jumps, with 4 feet of driving room at all times. That would make up about 3 turns or so in and maybe I can fit more in.

I love the oval, you can change the infield in relationship to what your racing, go crazy 8 , or jump over crazy 8!

I forgot to mention use a long piece of string tie both ends together and just lay it down there is an outline of a perfect track!!
