Need help

Hey, whats up? I am new to this kind of stuff. I know a little bit, but not much so you will have to be specific. I am looking for a off road nitro r/c. I want to be able to upgrade it and buy new parts but it needs to be RTR because I dont have much money. I cant but anything expensive right now, so something good that I can make better will do. What king of rc would you suggest and how much do they run?

Thanks

Im 17, Have a job, pay for a $6,000 fourwheeler and a car.. My own gas.. And sometimes lend my parents money "ill just say they didnt make all of the right choices in life". Sooo... I cant get Alot of money unless i save up for a couple of months. But by then i will probably change my mind on spending that much money because I need to save up for college since I have to pay for it myself. I just want a rc to drive around and have a little bit of fun. No racing for me. thats why I don't need an expensive one.

What is expensive for you ?

Expensive would be 300+ normally "I know im tight" lol... But right at this moment, I probably cant spend more than 150. If I cant get a good one that is upgradeable, Im not going to waste my money. I found a used himoto viper for about 160 with alot of extras and a controller, Is that a good deal?

Well if you want a more durable higher end car it will cost you around $300. A Duratrax Raze or an Ofna Hyper 7 are both good buggies.

There are cheaper beginner buggies, but they often break easily and it doesn't sound like you want to be spending a lot of money on replacement parts. My first buggy was an exceed 1/10 buggy and it is way to fragile and has shoddy electronics. The car was around $130 or so with shipping, but I have spent more than that amount now just to keep it running. And it has only run through about 1.3 gallons.

You might be able to buy a cheaper car like that however, and then just spend a bit more to upgrade. Spend $100 bucks or so to put in some better servos and maybe a steel spur gear.

Well, I have a tendency to get rough with thing, so somthing that will break easily will not last me long. I really dont think I need a beginner Rc, But i dont need something that is amazing.

You always have to plan on breakin stuff on the vehicles pretty much inevitable. If you can I would save up a little and get what you really want. I have been impatient before in my purchases and regreted some of them. I would save up to $500 and look into a truggy. I think that is a great option for the offroad rc. That puts you in for alot of different options with a truggy, buggy, or monster truck. I would go Savage for the MT, Ofna for the truggy, or Cen for a buggy. Enjoy

Ok, I found a used himoto Viper EXT for around 150 with everything i need except fuel with alot of extra parts. Would this be a good car for me to get? I know they are around 220 new.

I dont kno much about the himoto only advice I can give is make sure that you have a way of gettin parts when the extras run out.

Go with a Cen Matrix. They are very durable and affordible. You can find a new Matrix RTR for around and sometimes under $300.00. If you look on ebay, you may be able to find a used Matrix for under $200.00. Good luck.
