fail safe

I just bought the megap-3 and I had a problem with the brakes but I fixed that. My question is where do you guys put a fail safe since there looks like there is no room in the batt. or receiver boxes?

Outside of the batt box, unfortunately, is the only place where you can mount it. There might be an aftermarket one that is small enough to fit into this batt box (I assume you mean the MXB-3 when you say MegaP-3). Try a Venom failsafe, that might be small enough to fit in there.

Also, the RTR radio and RX is unfortunately massive. Whenever you can save up enough money, a mid-grade radio will have a much smaller RX in most cases, and better yet, those radio gears have failsafe built in!

If you have to put it outside the bat box just be sure to tie strap it to something

I dont know about the "unfortunately massive", i have himoto reciever in my hand now and its 1/2 the size of a few different futaba's. I dont know of any RTR that has a micro reciever unless its a losi mini or micro t, check out the traxxas or cen rtr recievers.

sorry i didnt notice the transmitter reciever part, lol

Spektrum dx2, you get 2.4ghz technology and a build in failsafe for around $169 or less.

I think its actually a good idea to mount your Failsafe where you can Easily reset it.
Too many folks set it Once , stuff it into the radio box, and Forget all about it.....
Its Good Practice to actually Reset the Failsafe from time to time. (Its a lot Less hassle than having a Runaway!)

+1 they make an industrial grade velcro, it will hold up to the stress. Put it on top of your reciever box.:)

Going 2.4GHz is a definite bonus, no more crystals, built-in failsafe, and the Spektrum radio is not expensive either. Though Spektrum does have its problems as compared to other 2.4GHz radios, it is a great leap above the RTR radios of any brand.

Another thing I forgot to mention: To help save space in the batt box, getting rid of the 4x AA cell pack and going with a NiMH RX batt pack is a big step too. These are smaller, the 5-cell arrangement allows you to slip some of the wiring into the the left and right corners where there are only 2 cells, and most of all, 6V ! The 4cell batt pack can only give you 6V if you go with non-rechargable AA batts. AA rechachables suck because they are only 1.2V per batt :(

RE: fail safe

4 aa alkaline is the same voltage as 5cell nimh packs, 6v but you can get much more mah(power) out of a rechargable then the alkaline so the rechargable is defintely the way to go.

RE: fail safe

That DX is a little to much for my budget. I was thinking of this radio, it comes with servos.

I will also get a seperate fail safe.
