What are the chances of becoming a pro driver and how would u do it?

drive reaally good ...and have good races placing in good place ... and other stuff

make all the aftermarket company or any rc company want to fight over getting you ...haha i ono

quit doing everything in life that does not involve r/c, practice, practice, practice, go to EVERY major r/c race event and come in the top 3 EVERY race, and hope you have enough money and time to invest that if it never happens, your not broke, single and homeless in the end...

not trying to be rude, but I dont see it being a simple task, and its alot to lay on the line..but if you have the ambition and means to do it, go for it!

Take a good look at yourself and determine whether or not you have what it takes to make it. If you're truely an excellent driver and tuner it's time to get noticed. Find a paint scheme you like and stick with it. People will associate a particular body with a driver. Start racing in other areas. In SoCal there used to be a Pro/Am tour, it was great for getting noticed. See if there is something like that in your area. Start hitting large events. If you consistently place well on different tracks it will demonstrate your ability to set up a vehicle, drive, and shows commitment. Be personable.

drive well , place high and definatly contact manufacturers. sell your product
i'm not looking to become a pro but i'm hoping if i place decently high in this years national championship series and next year too, i'll try and get a half way decent sponsorship[>:]

You don't have to go to EVERY big race... but you do have to race constantly and you do have to do really well in at least one big one. A couple of guys in my club, who I always thought were extraoridinarily fast, got 50%'s (one mugen, one trinity) from making the A main at the Lunsford Gas Blast. You need to go to a big race and do well where you will get noticed. And you have to have some history behind you. Make a resume (or build one if you don't have the races to put on the resume).

However, I am going to presume that instead, you want to be a 'factory team' driver. This is much more difficult. In order to get that position, you have to be good enough to make an A main in ANY race you attend, especially against the other Factory Team drivers. You're close enough to the Silver State Nitro Challenge in Vegas, go next year and see how you do. That will tell you where you need to be to get the job you want. Keep in mind that what you are asking is really tantamount to asking 'How do I make the USA Olympic Team in (take your pick of events).' It's really that tough. Our regional fast guy, Taylor Peterson, is a full on Kyosho driver, but is not one of the guys that gets 'paid' to race. He is a 100%er with Kyosho, and gets a travel perdiem to go to races, but does not pull a salary. Even though he is one of those guys that makes the A main every time, every race...

how much would you get paid for being a pro driver??
i couldn't become a pro ?(would like to but probably not good enough)

if you are not dominating at the local track the chances are you ain't good enough, unless you race where a pro calls his home, if you were pushing on him he would be dropping bugs in peoples ears allready and the kits, motors/engines and tires offers would be rolling in, lots of guys get stuff from different manufacturers, hardly anyone gets paid to run except the team drivers, 60 jobs for 6 million applicants worldwide. Richard Saxton stopped by one time, it was before the rc8 and he was in the thunder tiger t3 version and tq'd and won 1/8 buggy against 777sp2s, mbx5s you name it he lapped all except the two guys that usually finish 1-3 on a weekly basis and the "fast guys" didn't look so fast anymore lol.

i think you'd be better off focusing your efforts on obtaining a job that pays better, and that you have a more reasonable chance of obtaining

OK, I know that this will sound harsh and I appologize ahead of time for that. But it is, none-the-less, the truth.

If you have to ask those questions on a public RC fourm your chances are extremely small. The people who are truly gifted at anything don't ask casual questions like that. They get out and work hard to make the most of their gift, they seek out people who are already successful and learn from them. They eat, sleep, live and breath their chosen path. They already know what it takes to reach their goal.

For goodness sake, don't stop dreaming but be honest with yourself about yourself and your abilities. If after all these posts you still think you can do it then take that confidence and get out and get to work. And Good Luck to you, whatever you try.
