Radio's going nuts!

I can't figure it out, the radio works just fine when the engine's not running, but with the engine running, it goes haywire. With the engine running, the steering and throttle are both jumping all over the place. I've never seen this before. I wonder if there's something loose in the receiver and when the engine's running, the vibration makes it go nuts. Who knows?

Most likely one of the below, in roughly the order I've seen it happen.

1) Metal to metal contact (no metal clevis on the throttle, right?) Check for loose screws.
2) Bad receiver crystal
3) Broken antenna wire... makes intermittent connection
4) Broken filter, broken circuit board trace in the receiver

None of the receiver problems would surprise me. It's an Ace Jaguar radio (POS)!

Maybe... but still give everything a once-over, just to make sure.
It could be as simple as a loose mounting screw somewhere.
I'm surprised you don't see broken receiver stuff more often, in cars,
because of the sheer abuse most of them take... with the receiver mounted
with only double-sticky tape in most cases. on the planes, we usually surround
the whole thing with foam, before tucking it away someplace safe ;)

Don't feel bad... I just traded for an RC10GT, and I'm running an old
Kyosho AM radio for now. (got the car without a radio, and just installed what I dug up)

Check the thing over completely, and try a new receiver crystal, before writing it off.

Make sure the tuned pipe and the header aren't touching. They need a little space.

ya try foam or open up the reciver to make shure theres no liquids inside it that happned to me once with a fuel leak and make shure the servos wires are not cut up and pluged securly into the reciver

Radio's going nuts!

After checking out everything closely and not finding anything wrong, I decided to install my Airtronics receiver and see what happened. Problem gone.
