hey, everytime i would hit a jump my rc10gt's battery box would shift and almost fall out, making it uncomfortable for me.

anyone find or buy a solution to this without zip ties?

First, I would suggest you get you a battery pack, this will alleviate the cells in the battery box from slipping off the contact points and causing a runaway. It will happen and from your post it sounds like one might not be far off for you.
Once that happens your engine is toast, it will still run but the life of the engine is gone.


To answer the question, the best way is to use zip ties. Thats the way the battery holder in the back of the chassis was designed to work.
You could try rubber bands but I doubt that would hold very well.

Get a pack and a nice switch that has a charge jack on it and you wont have to take the pack out to charge it.

whats the diff between battery box and battery pack?

i put the batteries in the place that comes with the RTR kit with the hitec radio. and if i use zip ties, that would mean i would have to cut em everytime i need to change em?

is there a box out there that encloses it like the ones on the losis?

2 things about battery packs and batteries:
1. Four standard AA batteries only add up to 4.5 Volts, if you get a 6V battery pack then the car will behave better because it has increased voltage. Also, the packs are usually at least 1000Mah which means that a charge will last longer then a charge of AA batteries.

2. ZIp ties work fine, I use 1 tie for my battery pack. If I need to take it out of the car then I use an exacto knife to lift the zip tie tooth and pull the zip tie apart just enough to get the pack out.

The pack that I have for my RTR rc10gt is one that has the RED BEC connector on it already. I just simply plug it in where the battery case usually goes.

i have a ntc3,i would recommend getting the rechargable 5cell 6volt pack,you can zip tie it in,then just unplug it when its time for charging,with out removing the wihole pack.you can get the 6 volt packs off ebay for under $15,make sure you get ni-mh and a charger.i paid $8 for my charger at my LHS.so for $23 i never have to buy batterys and never have to worry about the thing falling out.

I got mine off of ebay. do a search for receiver pack. But any r/c store or online should have them

You want a new battery pack, Not that buying off of Ebay is bad or anything but if you dont have any way to test and cycle a pack its best to buy new.
THe best Nicad cells out there are Sanyo cells, Panasonic for Nimh but I think Sanyo also makes Nimh now.

The best case would be for you to get a nice charger to go along with your pack, if you intend to stay in this hobby for a while it will pay for it self.


You can get everything you need right off of the Towerhobbies.com website. Decide, order and it will be at your door in a couple of days at the cheapest price.


You can do some additional reading in the battery and charger forum to get more details and specifics.
I use a Triton charger but the Superbrain is probably the best charger out there for the money. Tower has it...Check it out.

I cant seem to find a battery pack that plugs into a hitec female connecter. anyone no where I can find one.

You may also have to get a servo extension cable, that may help with putting the pack in the back of the truck.

Also, Ebay doesnt just sell used items. BOTH of my packs cost less than 15 bucks with a charger and shipping! and they are new packs.

I was not saying that All packs on Ebay are used, what you will find is packs put together by other people, just like you and me.
They buy bulk cells then make a pack out of em and sell em.
I just dont trust packs like that on ebay and gladly pay a few dollars more to get good quality stuff. Its really hard to tell whats what from a picture.
If you feel comfortable with your models in the air or on the ground With packs that you are unsure of, then thats your choice.

I glady pay a few dollars more and be assured that the pack is good coming from Tower or a known supplier of batteries.

do you really need matched cells for a receiver pack?i bought a orion pro 1000 pack for $14,i think its a pretty good pack,after a full day it has not died on me yet.

Um, 4 * 1.5v = 6.0. Alkaline AA batteries are 1.5 volts nominal. You could buy 4 NiCds and put those in your pack. I wouldn't get anything less than 700mAh cells. That's what I did with my RC10GT. NiCd AA batteries are 1.2 volts (4.8v) nominal but full charge voltage is 1.4v. This is not usually a problem but you could get a little more torque and transit speed out of your servos with a 6.0v NiCd pack.
A 4.8volt pack is what is in a typical airplane flight pack. Works great.
