do you have to program the hitec servos?
Nawww they are just alittle bit faster. The one thing to remember is your RADIO. If you don't have a radio with End Point Setting you can mess up your servo or strip the plastic servo arms that go on them.
End point settings allow you to set the servo throw, meaning how far the servo goes, because in most cases it will go as far as it physically can unless you tell it to stop. I stripped a few servo arms and found out the hard way. If you have a stock radio get yourself a radio like new JR Racing radio. It kicks butt. Has all the best features and you don't need crystals, you can change your channel on the fly. Saves me practice time at the track. Just my opinion |

do you have to program the hitec servos?
with ur radio u would have to turn the radio and receiver off to change crystals. Your radio is just fine cause I believe u can do end point adjustments and store up to three model settings which is not bad. If you purchase 2-3 sets of crystals you should be fine for racing at a track.
Hitec sells a progammer for their servos. This is the only way to take advantage of the fail/safe functions. I have digital hitec as my steering servo and have no need to program it. A fail safe only costs around $35-40 vice the cost of the programmer which is over $150. I'll pass. |

do you have to program the hitec servos?
isnt it illegal to change crystals in the TX??
|
do you have to program the hitec servos?
Huh???? It is not illegal to change the crystals. Thats is the only way to have back up channels in case someone else is on your same channel at the track. Unless u have a synthetized radio where you can just change channels without the need of crystals.

do you have to program the hitec servos?
frequencies are only illegal if you use ones not specified for use by the FCC. i know this because i use all of the illegal frequencies in my micro rcs :D 27(legal), 35, 40, 45, 49(legal), 50, and 57. i think the 'subfrequencies' things are called channels, you are allowed to change channels, but not frequencies.
