I know that "-Someguy-", a member on the forum, was anodizing parts for people awhile back.

RE: anodizing
You live near Dallas, right? Just get out the yellow pages, there are probably several shops near your home that can do it for you. Look up anodizing, or metal plating, or chrome plating. If the first place you call doesn't do it I bet they'll know who does.

RE: anodizing
Yea like DaveG55 said, look locally first. Lots of machining shops and auto related shops might be able to do it for you for a nominal fee.

RE: anodizing
I send out a ton of stuff at work to a place called Pioneer Metal Finishing. I have had some parts done there, but under my employers account. I don't know if they will do just a small amount. A phone call wouldn't hurt though.

RE: anodizing
I don't know if you found someone to anodize your parts, but I specialize in small-run anodizing for any application. I can do most solid colors as well as some special effects. Here are some recent examples of some control arms I did for a customer in silver (clear) with a gold splash, and clear with a blue splash.

RE: anodizing
anodizing means coating plastic with aluminum or making aluminum stronger?
|
RE: anodizing
Anodizing is done to aluminum parts. By passing an electrical current through the parts while suspended in sulfuric acid, it converts the surface to an oxide layer. This increases the corrosion resistance and increases the hardness of the surface fo better wear resistance. Mircoscopically, the surface looks like very small tubes standing up on end. If the parts are dipped in dye, it is absorbed into the surface, so it will appeared colored, but it is not on top of the surface like paint, it is absorbed into the surface. The pics I posted above show one visual effect that can be created by dying only selected areas of the anodized surface. The part is totally anodized, the silver areas are the natural color of anodized aluminum.
