is this normal???

i have the 1/8 landslide..i recently lost a rear dogbone so im kinda limping around with front wheel drive until the part gets here...is it normal for the truck to pull to one side while on the throttle hard?

RE: is this normal???

It depends if youve lost a dogbone for the rear then you only have 3 wheel drive so I would imagine it would.

RE: is this normal???

no...actually i removed both rear dogbones when the first one was lost..i have two upgraded ones on the way...so there are no dogbones on the rear now..

Okay shouldnt your car not move at all because of the center diff?

adam-69 01-18-2009 01:33 PM

RE: is this normal???

Are you running with open diffs? if so thats not too wise.

as for pulling to the side it shouldnt really.. unless theres some wierd toe angle going on that is only showing now becaus of front wheel drive.

Are the front wheels ligned up?

cadillac98 01-18-2009 01:35 PM

RE: is this normal???

no...the front wheels are pullin very good....if i hit the throttle hard, they burn out like crazy...i can see that all four will pull once the dogbones come in...but to answer ur ? the fronts are pulling perfect

RE: is this normal???

i did adjust the toe angle because from the factory it was way off....could it be becasue i adjusted one side different from the other? i was jus trying to get the wheels toe angle correct..

RE: is this normal???

turn the radio and reciever on and push the car in a line with no steering input.

If it goes straight, its drive issues.

If it curves its toe/trim issues.

cadillac98 01-18-2009 01:48 PM

RE: is this normal???

well i guess its drive related...because it will go straight when running and low throttle...its when u lay on it that it starts to pull...could this problem go away once the rear dogbones are put on?

adam-69 01-18-2009 01:59 PM

RE: is this normal???

hmm, It could be dodgy bearings on one side, and when the rear drive is on its just over come by having 4 driven wheels.

Or it could be some wierd diff issue.

or slitch less likely it could just be the roataing mass of the centre diff. but the mainly effects touring cars i think.

What side does it drift to?

Are all the bearings good?

Torque steer perhaps? [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque_steering]>clicky<[/link]

RE: is this normal???

hmm, if its pulling left the tourque steer would be being cause by the diff and centre drivetrain. It's possible but unlikey.

bearings are the spinny bits in your wheel hubs.

o ok...messin with u guys ill be alright real soon...the pics show good bearings im assuming...how do bad ones look?

RE: is this normal???

they look the same, but dont turn freely. or else wobble a lot.

[link=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3055/2305167564_e6d8733536.jpg?v=0]bad bearings[/link]

or you could have bushings which look like this-[link=http://www.dansdata.com/images/ta04/bushings320.jpg]Bushings[/link]

It could be toque steer. it pull to the left for the back view of the car or the front view?

adam-69 01-20-2009 11:41 AM

RE: is this normal???

warhead - Is tourque steer caused by the engine spooling up? or is it the turning mass of the centre driver train? Or am i missing the point completely?

Cheers!

Adam

RE: is this normal???

It is generally from the engine spooling up, like my Maxx pulls to the right (when view from the rear), every time I mash it (and manage to keep the front down:D) it will pull hard to the right, but if I dive or spool up slowly, it doesn't do it.

adam-69 01-20-2009 01:49 PM

RE: is this normal???

ahh right thats what i thought, thats why i was confused when he siad it went left.

Whats powering your maxx? something good no doubt :D
