Engine problems
 

Ok so I took my car out today, it had been sitting for a week. I go to start it up, and I couldn't get it to start. My starter box spun my flywheel, the carb was spitting out fuel. My needles were spitting out fuel, and the needles would lean themselves in all the way and cut off the engine. Im so frustrated, I have no idea where to start. Last week when it was running, I was fighting a HSN and LSN problem, had a hard time getting them tuned. I go back to factory settings, and it does the same crap. I'm using a CEN matrix with a corsa .28 engine. It's been fully broken in with One problem during brake in, the throttle ball joint fell off and the car went full throttle for about 2 or 3 min on the 3rd tank, thank god for brakes

Have you tried a new plug. From your description you have not replaced the plug. Plugs dont last very long durring break in. Going full throttle for that long of a period is not a good thing either. Do you still feel any pinch or resistance while turning the flywheel with your fingers?

I've gone through 6 or more glow plugs and i did replace it when I went out today. As far as compression goes, it has some compression but not the amount it used to be. It has very very very low compression.

Ok, so you said you had both the carb and the needles spitting out fuel? Plus the needles were leaning themselves out?.....Yeah, you got a problem alright, I'd be getting a new carb.....lol....

Oh yeah, and if your not getting any compression on a new motor after that 3min WOT, you might wanna think about a new piston and sleeve. Better yet, new engine.

I the HSN is moving by itself when the engine is running then the rubber seals in the jet need to be replaced. I had a new engine axial engine and when I was tuning it the LSN and the HSN would move from the vibrations. I bought a seal kit for the engine and it ran great after that. No more tuning issues. I fuel is spitting out the HSN on the screw end then the seals are needing to be replaced. As for the low compression you can check a few things. First make sure you are putting on the new copper seal for the plug. Make sure the head screws are snug. It is possible that the piston and sleeve are worn if the engine got to warm when it was leaning itself out. Glow plugs will burn out if the engine gets to hot.

how old is the engine. it sounds like it has all kinds of problem.. air leaks, the carb wont hold a tune, fuel is coming out of your needles??, little to no compresion...

i think the best thing to do is get a new engine. couse this engine sounds like a nice chunk of useless metal.

I've run have run half a gallon, maybe, through it. The car was a christmas gift..... I'll check into those engine seals cuz that's exactly what it was doing

I seriously doubt that you need a new engine. It does sound like the carb needs new seals though. That alone will solve the leaks, the needles changing settings and probably most of your air leaks. I'd hold off on pronouncing low compression until I fixed the carb and got it running again.

1/2 a gallon thats a pretty new engine. its weird that the seals would go bad with only 1/2 gallon. well if you can get it running good again by just changing the seals then i guess the engine is good.

i highly dought that your engine has any problems with the piston and selve if its that new. (unless it was driven lean or dirt found its way into the engine). at 1/2 gal you should still have a lot of pinch. i would tighten up all the screws in the engine. it wouldn't be a bad idea to reseal the engine. also if you have ever messed with the cylinder shims if you damaged one by accident it could couse an airleak.

im not familiar with the engine. but if you cant get it to run well i would defenatly consider new engine or rebuild.

well as far as seals go, i guess i will have to call the manufacturer, because i cant find them online. I never messed with the shims, I did remove the cooling head one time. I tried to put it back on, it wasnt going to well, so i took it up to my LHS. The guy tightened it up for me but i never did really check to see if it was sealed. The whole reason i took it off was because i had left the piston in TDC like idiot..... and what i did was take the cooling head off put some after run oil in, and free the piston with my finger. look back now i know what i should have done but its a little late for that now........
